Supercharged MG ZS 180

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-ZS-180-...orcev4exp=true

Looks nice if I had the money I would be tempted

peterzs 18-09-12 11:42 AM

Hate to total up all the mods and upgrades.

stamford 18-09-12 11:49 AM

It is a very well presented and sorted version, it was on show at Zed10. Only sticking point will be the price and what he would like to claw back. I can't see anyone paying that price in all honesty no matter how good it is unless they had won the lottery.

True but it must be an amazing ride :D

petet16 18-09-12 12:05 PM

It's a great car, but I doubt he'll get the asking price, I'm sure he would be open to offers.

Also the pictures have gone from ebay !

Smokey 18-09-12 12:55 PM

Can only see a max of £4k really, shame as its stunning.

Shame that, as I would've liked to have at least seen what's possible.

Jay-ZS+ 18-09-12 01:17 PM

It looks a stunning car, its alot of money for a ZS though!!

WalkerDnB 18-09-12 03:33 PM

Its a very nice car but Id rather have a T16 it would be cheaper as well as having more than 275bhp
At that kind of money id be looking at evo's or a saph cossie :D
have to agree with Smokey 4k max and be for sale for ages at that.

talkingcars 18-09-12 05:44 PM

A T16 is only 200bhp (or 180 for the vitesse), you need to spend serious money to get it up to beyond 274.

Smokey 18-09-12 06:04 PM

Is the T16 easy to get up to 250 though?

talkingcars 18-09-12 06:07 PM

Better induction, exhaust, bigger turbo and up the boost and you are starting to get there.

that's a fair point
275 is possible on a standard block (with a bigger turbo and intercooler ect..)
so its still cheaper and you could get more than 274 for your money

I will have to consult my rover turbo expert on this lol

Close to yes, and reliably on standard internals

talkingcars 18-09-12 06:19 PM

My mate Victor who owned "mental maestro" as seen on top gear many years ago strubbled to get a reliable usable car above 270.

His T16 had been bored out to 2.1L, forged internals, T3 hybrid turbo and emerald ECU custom mapping @ emerald, I'm not saying you can't get more but it starts to become impracticle for everyday use.

Jay-ZS+ 18-09-12 06:26 PM

You can pick up a half tidy MK2 for £1.5k or one with engine issues, or even just a lucky bargin for sub £800.

That leaves £5.7k to buy, rebuild and fit Tseries. Reckon you will see decent power with that amount of cash!!!

petet16 18-09-12 06:31 PM

It really depends what you want to use it for, you can shoot for big power, and have the downside of it becoming possibly less useable and more temperamental, or go for less power with more reliability and more useable.

£5.7k large on the T  your getting near the reyland Vag conversion without the extras

petet16 18-09-12 07:16 PM

You wouldn't need to spend anywhere near that figure to make decent power, you can pick up engines for £250 or less.

Thats my point :)

Maxxed_Ross 18-09-12 07:51 PM

it's a shame it'll never make that sort of money, because it's probably had a shed load more than that spent on it

Car's are never worth what you put into them unless it's something crazy rare, old or exotic

Supercharged_Z 18-09-12 09:05 PM

I offered 4k for this but aparently hes had two buyers from forums offering asking price....

its a sorted motor for sure, but for 6k you can pick up many other sorted motors. I'm in no rush for anything it just looked intresting so good luck to the buyer/s I might go a little further but 6k for any ZS is mental

I knew he'd had some offers, but not that they were asking price, I wouldn't go beyond 4.5k.

ZRed 18-09-12 09:28 PM

I seen this on xpower. As previous comments, lovely looking car but even at £4k i`d say it was overpriced.

some mad people out there after all it seems! :joker:

zsserbia 18-09-12 10:33 PM

Another site track car perhaps? I bet it would make a fine one this :D

Maxxed_Ross 19-09-12 12:36 AM

that's far too nice to be a track car!

Quadcam24 19-09-12 06:34 AM

makes me laugh how everyone complains zs are worth nothing but then all the supposed enthusiasts compound the situation by only wanting to pay peanuts for one !
how can this sorted sc zs be only worth 4k......its only worth 4k to folk looking to pay peanuts for a great car, to anyone who's a true enthusiast and can see it for what it is, then its worth 6k all day imo.
Its worth the money just in parts !

enthusiast or not you'd have to be carzy to buy any car at 3 times the price just because its supercharged

And to be honest if it was twin turbo or maybe had a nice conversion with another engine (maybe cossie power :)) then I might understand the price but its not there are other supercharged zs's around admittedly not as nice as this one but still, if your willing to pay 6.5k for a rover mg badge or not you have a screw loose imo

Here's hoping someone's seen sense and snapped this up!

My mk1 went for 3k and not a patch on this mk2 , it is the best sorted charged 180 out there and can't be classed with an evo or cossie ! A car which can be picked up everyday of the week apart from a decent stock escort cosworth that it :-)

P.

stamford 19-09-12 09:20 AM

A die-hard MG enthusiast looking for such a car would pay the money as it is a well sorted car and not a rough one whatsoever. No doubt it will sell, as any car would, to the right buyer. Everything has its price and everyone has their budget so a case of finding the right one.

Im still a ford fan deep down so cossie all day for me lol

Words of wisdom there.

I don`t see how that spec is worth the money? The supercharger side of things is sorted yes, but apart from that, where is the money?

sneekyparrot 19-09-12 05:11 PM

That's all round wilwood conversion was a small fortune in it self!

Jay-ZS+ 19-09-12 05:12 PM

The Omega Pistons aint cheap

To be honest I didn't read it because hes written it all in CAPS LOCK which is bloody annoying and a soon as some one does it I lose all interest lol.

If you wanted a 274bhp Supercharged ZS with all the mods the car has then it might be worth it (cost far more to build)
but I still think its only worth 4k max Im sorry but at the end of the day its still just a zs and for 6.5k there are much faster, better built, and more unique cars around.

Now if it was that BMW based drift ZS 6.5k all day long :D
