petet16 12-08-13 07:41 PM

Be interesting to know how much power it's really making.

stamford 12-08-13 07:51 PM

Nice, but what's with the pink bits!

mattie007 12-08-13 08:52 PM

Both looking fantastic.

Gonna make a few changes, had the car up on the ramp that day looking for any fixes. luckily the list was small bits like split cv boot, power steering hose leak and new aux belt required.

petet16 13-08-13 09:38 AM

I didn't mean my comment to come across as cynical but so many T16 engined cars appear on ebay and gumtree making bold power claims, and the only difference from standard is an atmospheric dump valve, or open filter sat right behind the radiator.

Does it have a boost gauge fitted, and is it running 1.2 bar.

I'm going to take a punt that you'll see 260 bhp if the spec is as the seller claimed.

Nah completely understand mate, i am just as cynical as jenson didn't seem to know anything about the car. He said he paid the garage to do all the work. But he seemed like a genuine guy and the car looked in good order so i was willing to take the risk.

It DOES have a T28 turbo on it and its got a boost controller which i havent played with. It certainly feels faster then the standard 620ti, but i will keep you informed after the rolling road.

petet16 13-08-13 10:02 AM

I got the impression Jenson didn't know much about it, as he said it was a coupe engine and had ti drive shafts, it looks like a ti engine to me unless someone has gone to a lot of trouble to disguise a coupe engine as a ti one, and I don't think ti shafts are the right length.

Did he know what make the rods and pistons are.

StragglaSteve 13-08-13 10:13 AM

Literally didn't know a thing.

Its a 620ti wasted spark engine. I need to take it apart to check the internals although there is some (vague) invoices so might make a few phone calls

Still trying to work out which rad he used (probably should take the measurements and match them up) but it has had a custom bracket welded in place to get it to fit nicely.

petet16 13-08-13 10:57 AM

Is that the bracket welded to the slam panel.

petet16 13-08-13 11:01 AM

The rad looks like it could be either a 620ti, or 45 td, they both have the top hose union in the centre of the upper tank.

petet16 13-08-13 11:07 AM

Post #106 shows the 45td and ti rads with dimensions

A couple of other good upgrades for the future would be moving the battery to the boot, and making a decent enclosed intake piped from the inner wing, I've just redone mine with silicone and hard pipe to get rid of the flexible duct.

Cheers mate! they are already on the list :)

Might pick your brain for the battery to boot, not sure where to get some lengthy bit of battery cable

petet16 13-08-13 01:46 PM

I used a Rover 75 tray and box as in the picture below

talkingcars 13-08-13 05:32 PM

Battery cable from ebay.

I also got a universal battery tray and the required clamps.

Just looking for the battery cable on ebay, wasnt sure if i should go for the 110amp or 170amp cable?

StragglaSteve 16-08-13 06:09 PM

Also,

Had a nice bang today on the motorway followed by lack of turbo power!

quick inspection and...

Is there meant to be that much oil in the intercooler pipes? :detective:

petet16 16-08-13 06:14 PM

You need a catch tank, and monitor how much oil ends up in it, pack it with wire wool to help catch the oil.

If the hard boost pipes haven't got a raised ridge it'll keep blowing the pipes off.

Cheers mate, i think ive got a catch tank kicking around somewhere.

Ive ordered a new silicon elbow as the legs on this one look like they have been chopped too short, but i will get a new set of hard pipes too! thanks for the advice mate.

peterzs 16-08-13 06:31 PM

My boost pipe popped off, had a fair amount of oily stuff come out as well.

It came off on the way to Trax, at Silverstone, had to get a new clip as it had disappeared somewhere.

One of the stalls was selling silicone pipes and clips. The clips were a lot stronger than the jubilee clips that I had fitted, but you had to know the diameter of the pipe as there wasnt much adjustment on the clips. They were special turbo clips, lot thicker and stronger.

Might be worth swapping yours, if they are just the Jubilee types.

petet16 16-08-13 06:35 PM

i agree with Pete, Mikalor clips are much wider than the normal Jubilee type clips.

peterzs 16-08-13 06:35 PM

Thats the ones Pete!!

petet16 16-08-13 06:36 PM

Like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-MI...item2c6e8154f9

peterzs 16-08-13 06:37 PM

Bookmarked, wont forget now!!

petet16 16-08-13 06:38 PM

For the battery cable I used 170 amp with a 200 amp circuit breaker, I've only managed to pop the breaker once when I forgot to reconnect the injector loom and was turning the engine over for quite a while wondering why it wouldn't start.

petet16 16-08-13 06:40 PM

One like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200A-12V-C...item3f274eb1a7

StragglaSteve 16-08-13 06:44 PM

Doh! i just ordered a bunch of jubilee clips! was gonna double up lol

cheers for the heads up though!

Thanks for the info guys, time to go shoppping!
