Wanted cheap ZS180

Currently on the hunt for a cheap ZS180 to turn into a track car

I do not mind a little work to be done on it, rather it was running where the v6 can be a sod to work on, if its on the road thats good but can always trailer it,

went to look at a ZR160 yesterday with my mate whos going halves on this with me but we both decided we do not trust the K series enough! ( owned enough to know what they can be like ) so next choice was the ZS 180

would ideally like a saloon, Yellow would be a bonus ;) and as cheap as it can possibly be lol, Oh and not the other end of the country! ( Hampshire is where I am based )

Anyone know of anything, would consider paying a little more for one thats already track ready

Reckon this guy would take £700, as that's what it was up for a week earlier.

V6 180 is a K Series.......

Squeaks 06-07-14 05:13 PM

the V6 is far more reliable than the K series 1.8

talkingcars 06-07-14 05:40 PM

The KV6 is far more solid than the Ke 16v, the 8v are quite good but who wants a 64bhp track car?

Shame you weren't looking a year ago, my mk1 was going for a song.

Skillen 06-07-14 05:43 PM

I'll be selling my mk1 soon hatch though and silver lol

Full mot and 6 months and feels a lot tighter than my mk2 at the minute lol!

Squeaks 06-07-14 05:53 PM

Been offered a ZR160 for £200 tempted ( I know what I put in the first post lol )

Skillen 06-07-14 06:01 PM

That's a pretty damn low price

And therein lies the reason to avoid it ....

Suspiciously cheap cars usually have a good reason for being so cheap, but as the basis of a trackday car it might be ok.

Dan1971 06-07-14 07:26 PM

I suppose it depends on why it's so cheap. Cosmetics wouldnt be an issue on a track car for sure, but mechanicals have to be well up to scratch.

Squeaks 06-07-14 08:19 PM

already been to look at it, its a bit on the tatty side and it needs a thermostat but other than that its ok, my only worry is the mileage but ive been told by a MG mechanic not to worry too much, Like Dan said to me, if it blows up just put another engine in, although i think I want to hold out for a zs

Supercharged_Z 07-07-14 07:09 PM

What's your budget?

Squeaks 07-07-14 09:11 PM

depends on the car, hopefully not 2 much lol

ians race car is fantastic value for money, you couldn't build anything even half way to the spec for the money.

You have PM. I need a diesel so mine is for sale.

there`s a deal to be done here

I like that, think we have decided on the cheap ZR, its the first time making and owning a track car so will make the way up the ladder as experience grows, if we prang the zr not so many tears will be shed lol
