Am i reading This Right

Tax for My ZS180 will be £425 for a year

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...icle/DG_172916

If thats the case buh bye ZS i dont use you enough to warrant paying £425 a year for tax

Nats Whiskas 22-02-10 05:42 PM

No because your car has already been registerd, you will be paying £235 per year as of april, which is still f*****g extortioninate!!!! Bloody gangsters... Goverment even!:rant::rant::rant:

Bobdope2002 22-02-10 05:49 PM

IIRC the 180 produces 227kg which places the ZS180 in band L which is £425

Yep, you've got that spot on!!

Of course it's a different story if you own a 180 registered before 1st March 2001

Bobdope2002 22-02-10 05:57 PM

im not paying that sort of money for mine it barely gets used looks like its gettin sorned and im walking to work

Keep the thing in storage for when prices of the things go back up

grimmy 22-02-10 06:00 PM

This is because the CO2 test was changed in 2004 and cars like the ZS180 would have had a lower g/km than under the old test.

When I took this up with my MP when the goverment first announced the new bands, he came back with the usual "we are trying to cut pollution" but low and behold they put in the "before 23 March 2006" clause.

Incidentaly I retaxed my 180 at the end of January, still £210.

Ritchy 22-02-10 06:22 PM

so yer keeping it now lol

If it does go to £425 ill have no choice but to consider selling it mate it does about 200 mile a month if that now expensive thing to tax for 2500 miles a year

Thing is with theyre current value you may aswell **** into the wind thinking your going to get a decent selling value for them...

so really your best keeping them in storage as one day they will become a classic and maybe worth something

Ritchy 22-02-10 06:30 PM

hows much is storage a year, im guessing a lot more than £415, and urs is goona be 200n summit im pretty sure

Alan.F 22-02-10 06:35 PM

Bob its only £235 for yours

Dan1971 22-02-10 06:56 PM

:wall:

£235 from April - but even if it was £425 - that's £190 more - roughly £16 a month. You'd bin it for £16 a month ?

talkingcars 22-02-10 06:59 PM

Just stick in a T16, then you'll just pay the "over 1400cc" tax bracket for older cars, currently £190 p/a IIRC.

Supercharged_Z 22-02-10 07:00 PM

ahoy the metro. tax at the weeked,. 68quid for 6 months!!

Squeaks 22-02-10 08:33 PM

Im sure it will be £235. its alot of money for **** roads.

andys1981 22-02-10 08:39 PM

i was under the impression that it is currently 118.75 for 6 month, then after april it goes up to 135 for 6 month,it was the same as my 2.2 vectra so i will pay it anyway

p_b82 22-02-10 09:10 PM

sometimes i am so glad i have got a slow old 'tractor' engine in mine!

tax is around the £125 region i think last time i renewed it although it is due at the end of next month, so may have gone up...

stamford 22-02-10 10:04 PM

If the car is in good condition and reliable, then paying that little bit more is money well spent. Buying a cheaper car to get around the tax groupings is false economy. You could be buying yourself trouble. I just taxed mine, was £118.

Nope, still £125 and will still be £125 from April! :D

Cheap tax, cheap insurance, and 45mpg+ even when booting it! :D

Agree with this totally!

fastmike 23-02-10 06:50 AM

there might be some cheap post 2006 ZS180's soon then *-)

Who
is gonna want to pay 2 grand for a car , then pay over £400 to tax it

£235 from April - but even if it was £425 - that's £190 more - roughly £16 a month. You'd bin it for £16 a month?...... it doesnt seem much when its put like that ... untill you factor in mortgages , kids , running cost of a wife and her car etc

£16 extra a month is nothing considering my Sky TV package and gym membership costs me £100 a month. Personally I think it is pathetic someone have to sell their car because a rise of road tax by £190 a year.

I'd rather get rid of Sky tv than the car tbh

From the sound of things you really shouldn't be owning this car or any cars. If I can't afford an extra £16/mth and have to survive on minimum wage, owning a car would be on the bottom of my priority list unless I need it to go to work.

There are many different views on Sky TV and gym membership whether they are waste of money or not. If one can enjoy these luxuries then they can afford to waste the money. One person's waste maybe another person's gold.

selling the car is not an option simple as

Fair enough on the Gym and Repeat TV

Anyways enough of the arguing its childish

So are you saying that not so well off people should not own a car?

Not everyone has money to burn as you seem to have

A car is not a necessity in life as I said previously unless you need it for work. If you can't afford to own or run a car then yes I'm saying you shouldn't own a car simple as. I like to own an Aston Martin but I can't afford one so I don't have one.

Im slowly starting to get wound up by this...what started of as a nice polite thread has turned into a battle of i earn more money than you Willy wangathon

I earn Min wage because the profession im in at the minute is as dry as a nuns **** for Work so ive settled for something less skilled although I really dont see why i should have to explain myself to you but i have

Me personally and a few others have stgated that they wud not pay £425 a year to tax what is essentially a Rover 45

i love my car but its not worth that a year

grimmy 23-02-10 05:36 PM

Right i am gonna close this, was going to let it run after the op got the info required and asked for it to be closed but thought maybe people could keep it on topic now i can only see the thread content going downhill for no reason.
