Most driving I have done in a weekend!
Over this weekend I had the pleasure of driving the 180 a total of 740ish miles!
Friday Eve - Norwich to Yarm (225 Miles) Sunday Afternoon Yarm to Norwich (225) (Had a drinking session in Newcastle) Monday Morning - Norwich to Southam (145 miles x 2) Then drove back in the afternoon. (That was to buy a Audi 3.2 V6 with my bro but we did not buy it) I must say it was some of the best driving I have done and 180 just ate the miles like nothing and loved every one of them. I cant fault the power, handling, ride or anything (well maybe the interior but who needs the toys!) It made a difference to my normal short distance driving of 10 miles a day for work! Found out the A3 3.2 is heavier than the ZS 180! The 180 is performance motoring for a bargain price imo. |
Totally agree. Love my 180 but have always wondered why manufacturers like Ford & Vauxhall seem to be able to get 220 BHP out there cars (ST220 / Vectra GSI) when there both 2.5 V6 aswell

I never take much notice of bhp figures the true way to test how fast a car it on in the 1/4 mile |
I guess that makes sence. I constantly telling people a story about when i raced a V Dub Coraddo VR6 on the way home from Glentress where i go biking. We were both on a straight and i was guled to his back bumper from about 40 MPH to about 100 MPH where he started to back out and i kept my foot in it.
So i sailed away from him all proud of myself and my car, feeling great UNTIL!! Made it all the way to Glasgow, was sitting at a set of lights at St James'es interchange and an old rusty yellow (R) plate punto GT pulled up beside me. At this point in im feeling pretty cocky as i just beat a 2.8 V6 and i know the punto it a 1.4. So hes sitting beside me reving the nuts out this we motor and im just sitting there laughing at him. Well, guess who got the last laugh (Not Me) I swear to god. I gave my beloved 180 everything and couldnt get near him. He was off like a bullet Moral of the story, dont judge a book by its cover ! |
Are you sure it wasn't a punto gt turbo?
Ive had a good go with a Audi A3 2.0T neck and neck untill I started to reel him in (this is on a private road of course) :D |
Always good to hear folk enjoying their 180s still, probably why I still have mine when only too easy to look at other cars for a change.
|
Yeah Ive been looking a 220GSI Turbos cant help myself lol
|
Blimmy - I've just taken my Zed to Spain for a week and didn't even clock up 500miles!
(we did 60 miles to take the Portsmouth-Bilbao ferry and stayed in Bilbao) The ZS is quite slow off the line but once it starts rolling it picks up quickly. |
The other factor is that the Ford and GM v6 makes more power but it is pulling more weight, add lightness for more speed according to Colin Chapman:smile1:

ZS180 http://www.carfolio.com/specificatio...car/?car=88352
Mondane ST220 http://www.carfolio.com/specificatio...car/?car=96690 Opel Vectra http://www.carfolio.com/specificatio...car/?car=97845 VW Corrado VR6 http://www.carfolio.com/specificatio...car/?car=17545 Both the ST220 and the GSI have bigger engines producing a little more power but are heavier, slower and more poluting. The VW however has a little more power and is a few kilos lighter. I had to use the Opel as the Vauxhall only showed Stafford Micks first love ;) If you want to waste a few hours here is the front page - http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/ |

135 -140 mph up at loch lomond. The roads are so straight up there you really can streach the Zed's legs. Dony really know if i should be admitting that but what the he :oops:ll |

If were playing with 200bhp audi's then I doubt a 134bhp Punto would be to much trouble And I wouldn't worry this aint the sort of site the law will be watching no ones talking about Hams Hall (YouTube it) :D |
The shame of it is that I didnt get to play with many cars during the journey at all, at most a VW Scirocco and a Saab 93 (both diesels) but did a mixture of driving/speeds and its a great car.
I should add I have only owned the 180 since Jan this year and have only been fortunate to take it long distance a few times. |

Could have been moded but cant say for sure:hmmm: |
usually clock up the miles a lot driving to dorset, then wales then back, never did it this year but last few years,
|
My friends and i love mountain biking so we try and head up to Fort William at least once a year and stay in a camp site over the weekend. And i dont mean to sound sad but half the fun for me is filling my tank (about £70) and just opening the car up on all the big sweeping corrners and huge straights. Dont get a chance to do it to often now (kids) but when i finally get the car to myself i take full advantage, and love every minute of it.

The Zeds are best on windy roads. Before my ex moved, she used to live in a small village just past Alton Towers. The last 30 miles once you came off the A500 and had to go over the peak district mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, great roads........Still nothing can touch it round the bends.
