My Silver Mk2 180 Saloon

Collected from York today. Bought blind from the bay of E.

I've had a right result I tell you.

Bodywork is really good. Bit of a saggy bumper but I've seen a lot worse. Alloys are a bit marked. The guy's glued the handle on the rear driver side - :wall: and left some residue around it. Interior is mint. Factory stereo etc and looks standard under the bonnet. What's not standard though is the stainless exhaust. I've got no bills with the car, just the service book, so I'll try to contact the previous owner about where it came from, make etc and what else has been done to her over the last keeper's 7 years of ownership. I think it's got something else going on under the car as the sound is amazing and it's not like there's a hole anywhere.

Serviced in May, years MOT on it and 4 new avons.

Drove fantastic back down today - steering wheel dead centre, no vibration, brakes good, all electrics including the sensors and sunroof all good.

Dodgy badge on the front -

But got that sorted with a new one I bought as a spare at Duxford the other week.

Fantastic car total value for money, interior is well awsome! Not keen on silver cars but that interior more than makes up for it, enjoy dude.

Cally180 26-07-13 09:18 PM

vanishing days 26-07-13 09:47 PM

nice car dan lovely interior

Smokey 26-07-13 10:55 PM

That is lovely mate. Only thing is, the red interior would look better in a white ZS and you'rs would suit grey alcantara better so I think we should swap ;)

grimmy 26-07-13 11:47 PM

Nice motor Dan well done.it does however need a spoiler.the zs without one has a huge arse.that interior by the way needs to be in my car.

POMPSKI 27-07-13 12:52 AM

Especially as I'd gone up there blind Pete - different with the blue diesel I bought as it was from a member, or with Red as Mick had gone to see it.

POMPSKI 27-07-13 01:06 PM

I know that sense of satisfaction Dan - Mine was blind too, and a right bargain.

Dan1971 27-07-13 05:17 PM

Few bits today - Took the Kenwood out of Red to get put into this one, but I'll get the audio man to fit it and I'll have to get another DAB aerial. Changed the glovebox and armrest over from Red. Glovebox is "flocked" and the armrest is mint, but the silver one's glovebox was just all plastic and the armrest had a wee cut in the leather. Also changed the power vis motor - only coz I knew the one in Red was a good one. Seems even better now. Will do the balance one tomorrow as I've got a spare in the garage. Removed the Halfords V6 badge from the boot but it's left a lot of gluey residue that I'll get stuck into tomorrow, and if that doesn't come off I see another badge of some description covering it up ... :hmm: Also ordered some new rear quarter badges as they're faded badly.

Gonna get under it and have a butchers at the exhaust in a mo....

Dan1971 27-07-13 06:42 PM

So this is underneath the car - any ideas on what's going on ... ? Noise is awesome. And yes the petrol tank is a tad rusty ...

Ritchy 27-07-13 07:06 PM

Looks custom, pretty big bore, tank only looks like surface rust, i wouldnt worry about it

Dan1971 27-07-13 07:10 PM

Cheers Ritchy. Whats the larger part in the 1st picture ?

petet16 27-07-13 07:11 PM

Not sure on the exhaust, it looks decent quality.

wd40 is good for removing the badge residue, another place worth checking for rust is the front jacking points.

Stephen 27-07-13 07:44 PM

I have a feeling its a piper. Looks the same as i had on the diesel.

M17TT180 27-07-13 08:01 PM

No viper stripes tho.

Craig-ZS180 27-07-13 08:16 PM

Yep its a piper exhaust Dan, will be sounding wry similar to mine now. Its identical to mine barring the rear obviously but still the slash cut in usual way. They don't badge their exhausts up for some reason, most tend to but all the pipers I've ever had have all been plain boxes and pipe work.
Do sound awesome though dont they.!!

Great shout with the WD 40 .... bit of that and then a wee polish with some T cut and it's gone.... Cheers Pete.

Supercharged_Z 28-07-13 05:13 PM

looks like a mk1 piper as it looks short of the bumper.

they always were my favorite exhaust on a 180, apart from my custom one I had on my black supercharged car

daytona365 30-07-13 09:58 AM

Its not yellow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was another positive ... ;)

Very nice car and it has a SUNROOF!!! Like the interior to. Lets have an under bonnet shot to or is that to dirty to show? My fuel tank looks just as rusty, a result of project drive MG-rover not Stone chip coating them. Plus maybe the extra noise is some of the sound deadening they stopped fitting to. Though according to Colin Chapman he would describe it as "Simplify, then add lightness"

It's spotless and standard under there actually - apart from a Halfords battery, but figured that no-one would be interested in a standard engine shot. Tomorrow .... ;)

Steven11 01-08-13 07:56 AM

Time for a making her mine part 2 thread i think Dan.

Dan1971 01-08-13 03:40 PM

Et Voila .... Nothing special under there at all, but currently - zero corrosion really which is nice after the issues with Red ....

Have just noticed though that the headlights are a bit cloudy and rough to the touch .... :hmm:

peterzs 01-08-13 05:35 PM

You can get polishing kits to get rid, Dan.

:beer::beer::beer:

Dan1971 01-08-13 05:40 PM

Yeah I'll have a go mate, but don't have one of those spinny electronic ones. Might have a go later with a rag and some T-cut.
