Cheap Diesel 400/45/ZS
Having got rid of the Audi yesterday, I am now in the market for a new car.
Does anyone have a cheap 400/45/ZS for sale? Mileage and condition not overly important, as long as it is road legal and has some MOT and Tax on it (Needs to be reliable and get me to and from work) Incase you didn't know the Audi was rubbish and kept breaking down, culminating in refusing to start even with easy start recently... |

Looked at both of those, the Black one (why 45 wheels, seats and MK1 grill??) I inquired about (same seller) but no way of getting there myself and they want over £300 to deliver! (Makes the Green one over a grand and thus too expensive for what it is!) (I live on the south coast BTW) To be fair, the black one at £395 + £300 delivery + £145 Tax + whatever for the MOT, makes that car cost over £840 in the state it is in, with no guarantee its mechanically sound and won't cost stupid amounts for the MOT... The Green one is £695 + £300 delivery + £145 Tax = £1140 Which is more tempting, but still more than I was hoping to pay! |
Wow some mileage on those two.
Have heard that the pumps can go on high miles and are costly to replace. I'm on a derv f/b dont know if its worth asking on there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/6623...47230/members/ I've got the time to run you to pick up one, all the work you do on the site, ZS. |

Not a worry, love driving so any excuse.
Plus it pays you back for all those hours sorting the site. Be in the ZS so bring the kids!!:laugh::laugh: |
Anyone got any experience of the Proton GEN-2 1.3 GLS 5dr?
I've been offered an 05 plate for under £800... looks in great condition but not sure on the 1.3 petrol engine and can't find any reviews on it anywhere! Other than that the seller of the 420 linked above has contacted me to say its been serviced every 6k miles, new brakes all round every 1800 miles irrespective of the wear, only downside I can see is the rust on the rear arches... Not too worried about the power, and motorway driving appears to have similar book figure MPG... |

But I am not a CoPart member (and you have to pay to be one?) and have no idea on how to get a cat C back on the road?? Or what it means to own a Cat C car from insurance view etc? |
If you don't mind a bit of work - don't know where it's located either ....

R75 near you ....
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...esel?logcode=p Or a facelift ZT that's a few miles away with a few miles and wear, but we all know they are good for a big mileage ... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...esel?logcode=p |

I don't mind the work, but its 115 miles away from me, so getting it back could be interesting if it doesn't start... Quote:
Also, had a 75 CDT before... it wasn't exactly reliable either! Brake lines corroded through, rear springs snapped, engine started pumping oil out the dipstick (common issue with crankcase pressure in these engines) and not as good on fuel as the 45 either... Other than that I might consider one again. |

I'm going to ring and ask about that one I think  |
Good luck ...
Driver's seat looks like it needs replacing but alcantara or full leather come up for them more often that for a ZS. Good base to have I reckon. |

Yes, I picked up an 05 plate Proton Impian, with 41000 miles on the clock:
Attachment 5515 I do think the previous owner was a bit optimistic in his choice of keyring though!! Attachment 5516 The car itself isn't in too bad condition, but does need a bit of TLC... Its a 1.6 Mitsubishi engine, so apparently should be reliable and frugal on the go go juice. |
If it does the job for you mate - all's good.
As far as Lotus is concerned, I'm fairly sure that Lotus had quite a bit of involvement with Proton a few years ago. The Satria GTi suspension was engineered by them if I remember correctly and was well thought of. Bolt on bodykit and decent recaro seats too. |
Had GTI for a project and it was a great car to work on but had to give up the garage space so didnt finish it :(
|
The Lotus connection is the fact that Lotus own Proton...
Its nothing special, but reminds me a lot of my old ZS tbh... right down to the boot hinges that drop into the boot space and crush whatever is in their way!! |
