Breaking trophy blue mk1 180

As title .

talkingcars 14-07-15 09:27 PM

What's wrong with it?

M17TT180 14-07-15 11:08 PM

Head gasket .

Just for arguments sake, wouldn't it take the same effort to repair as to break?

Doing a head gasket repair on a KV6 is not bread and butter work or cheap. If I was in that position I would get another engine with known history. Besides is it worth the expense on such a cheap car? I always factor in the cost of parts plus what my time is worth and ask myself is it worth it?

Well you put coolant in it runs straight out .Think the engine is past saving, there is coolant in the dipstick tube and in the engine. Apart from dropping an engine in the shell would need a respray, there is chunks of paint missing on the rear wings.

The cost of repair is going to well outweigh the resale value and I'm not here to loose money just to save an old tired zs.

Tempting, I was thinking of mods to do to the body, front wings, front and rear bumper etc. However as usual wrong timing as have the wife's 50th birthday to plan and pay for first, must get my priorities right! Not to mention our 30th anniversary next month, pearls are not always cheap!

Don't forget the interior is a massive upgrade to later cars, it makes the car so much more refined.

Is it worth pouring a gallon of K Seal in the coolant?

Dan1971 15-07-15 02:17 PM

Guys - he bought it to break it - not knocking it, just wasting your keyboard skills trying to establish if it can be saved or he can be talked round.

He's done enough of them now to know what he'll get in profit and it appears worthwhile.
