New Mudflaps - Mk2 with 180 kit
Further to my advice seeking thread in another section to find out what was available and what would fit etc.
I thought I would post some pics in here of the mudflaps I finally got around to fitting incase anyones interested lol. I bought them from here > 3rd from top are the ones on my car. http://www.mgocaccessories.co.uk/aca...flaps_164.html Pics > http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...terson/014.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...rson/011-1.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...terson/013.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...rson/001-1.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...rson/002-1.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...rson/003-1.jpg Im not sure what the mk1 is like but on the rear of the mk2 there wasnt much support on the inside of the rear flaps. Maybe im fussy, but I was a bit worried that they may catch the tyre when reversing, so I made a little bracket to give support and make them solid. I slightly angled it to keep the flap clear of the wheel. The brackets actually look neater in real life than they do in the pics, but at least their nice and solid now :) http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...rson/005-1.jpg Hopfully my car should stay a bit cleaner now :). they look really smart, i have been considering a full set of plain black ones for mine aswell! top job :D

I like them a lot, seem to get a lot of spray from the back of mine in wet weather.Be a great addition
|
I had all sorts of horrendous thoughts of how it would look. Actually works and looks smart too.

Glad it worked out well for you John :)

Seriously, it suits it better than expected. |
mudflaps
Hi
Do you find that your mudflaps catch on speed bumps etc. |
They look OK, but i'm not sure if i'd put them on mine... They probably would stop the stone chips on the back door flare, but mine is well chipped already so unless i get it painted i can't see much point.
|
that's exactly why I'm thinking about them
|
mudflaps
I have put them on my car but the front ones seem to be scraping on speedbumps etc
|
depends how low you put them. You find most cars with rubber mud flaps will catch on things. I know my dad's old Mondeo and current A4 both do
|
Cheers guys, im real pleased with them, my car is staying so much cleaner now and I cant hear the stones/tar hitting the sides on the roadworks their doing near me anymore :)
Erik, its like Ross said really, depends on how low you fit them. Theres some huge speedbumps around where I live so I fitted them quite high in order too muss the bumps. hth. John :) |
