MG badges

I've bought some badges from this site before and I've been really impressed by the quality. I quite fancied getting the TF LE500 silver and black MG badge for my ZS.

They're available from his site (http://www.something-magic.co.uk/) or via eBay.

I spoke to Marco, who runs the site, and he's told me he will soon be selling the silver and black TF LE500 MG badge in 59mm size suitable for the MkI ZS

If anyone has any further ideas, or suggestions of MG badges they would like, let me know and I'll speak to him, I've bought several different badges from him and the quality is excellent.

They do look good...

I might just get this one

stamford 03-11-08 12:15 PM

Good quality, pity they don't do a rear mk1.

skyblueads 03-11-08 12:20 PM

What size in mms is the rear badge? I'll email Marco and ask. I bought the X-Power script badge and it's good, been on my car for a while now with no problems.

stamford 03-11-08 12:22 PM

It's not the size that's the issue, it's the rear profile. It is shaped to fit the boot curvature. It depends on how thick the badge is in order to dress it to suit if it has enough meat.

skyblueads 03-11-08 12:33 PM

Ah, I see. I'll drop him and email and ask.

Was this guy not on here for a while? I bought a few domed XPower badges and I have to say I love them!

I fancy that MG Xpower one... and it's a fantastic price!

skyblueads 03-11-08 04:37 PM

Dunno mate, I saw his badges on eBay and asked about the X Power script one, he had them made up and I bought them, great service, and good quality badge.

His badges are not that good.

Well the badges were ok but they just dont stick to the car that well.

If you choose to buy any of this guys badges get yourself along to halfords and buy some 1mm Number Plate sticky pads.

Maxxed_Ross 04-11-08 06:03 AM

I've had mine for nearly a year and they're still solid... and they have been pressure washed a few times!

I've found them to be good, I pressure wash mine and the badges haven't shifted.

Maybe so but i can name many peeps from other MG Forums whos badges have flew off travelling along roads.

I do know these rust from the backside though 100%

I have seen them on 2 180s and they were in a serious state of oxidation and ironically they were under a year old.

The problem is they rust from the backside which is very worrying as its next to your paintwork.

Maxxed_Ross 05-11-08 11:32 AM

yeah, I heard the older ones were bad for that. I bought one recently and they seem to be plastic coated now.

Finally a company that listens to what we say!

My Xpower octagons are a couple of years old now.The plastic coating does eventualy fail(took about 18 months)Best to put some lacquer around the edges.
I also had to use the number plate pads to fix mine on as the original backing wasn't man enough.
On my front badge I had to remove the resin dome & lacquer it

Maxxed_Ross 05-11-08 12:55 PM

the rectangular badges are almost jelly coated, it's like a soft rubbery stuff as opposed to laquer.

They can't be any worse than the original ones! Both my ZR and ZS hat a total badge laquer failure after less than a year

skyblueads 09-11-08 09:16 PM

Right, had an email back from Marco, the 95mm badges for the mk2 ZR and ZS will be expensive for him to produce, and would cost somewhere in the £20-£30 range. The only problem is he'd need to order a minimum of 500 badges from his supplier.

The TF LE500 style MG badge will be available soon.

looks like they should be OK now...

All badges sold are made from base metals of either Zinc Alloy or COPPER unless otherwise stated, they have 0% iron content and will NOT rust. - this can be tested when you receive you badge and place a magnet near it - it will NOT stick proving there is 0% iron content.
