camera makes it look a bit shiny. its a big improvement over the 'boring' black one

That's bright! Is it the same shade? Does brighten the engine bay up.
|
the camera is making it look a lot brighter than it is. yea its solar red. i used 2 coats of primer, 5 red coats and 3 laquer coats. its a very close match to the colour of the car. i was tempeted with silver but opted for red for now.
|
Ive been wanting to do this with mine, in silver.
Looks pretty good :) Is the V6 badge going back on? That should finish it off nicely! |
i damaged the badge when i took it off. i will try to find another
|
Looking good did you have to rub the cover down before spraying?
|
I want to do this with my 180, my battery tray is rusty so i have bought a brand new battery tray from e-bay so painting that TB and will have plenty left to do the engine cover
|
I took my engine cover off... the tractor is noisy enough as is, and wanted to help get the heat away.
But that does look very nice :) |

The cover does get hot.
What laquer did you use mate? Did the same to mine, but after 'bout a year the laquer disappeared. Only have the paint now. In summer I will re-do the cover and put heat-resistant laquer on. |
yours is a k series so yes it does get hot. yours will as its sitting on metal but the kv6 doesnt get hot atall. you can thrash it for miles and when you touch it its still cold
|
I have painted my cover too, but just used normal car paint and normal laqure, drove about 50 miles, my cover does get a bit hot. hope the paint will be ok like as its not heat resistant

looking good. my first one bubbled up as i didnt use plastic primer
|
I want to paint mine. What's the procedure? Just primer, paint, then laquer?

I didnt use any primer, just some hammerite silver and some lacquer. No bubbling so far! Been a week or two since I did it.
