T4 - who has one????

been told the only way to sort my car out is to get 2 new fobs with the barcodes, and then have it put on a t4 to reset the ecu and scu, so that the central locking and alarm run a new frequency

does anyone know which company has a t4 so i can get it done

markyzs180 01-03-09 11:41 AM

good luck with getting it sorted bud....what a bloody nightmare....

RudeDogg1 01-03-09 01:03 PM

wouldnt mind getting mine hooked up to 1 just to see if there is any codes

Jay-ZS+ 01-03-09 01:24 PM

Wouldnt touch unless have to may have a can of worms hidden somewhere!! Bit like my speedo with the abs light taped up!!! Obviously there for a reason lol

TjP 01-03-09 01:41 PM

Aye my local ex-MGR garage is now Skoda! They put my car on the T4 last Thurs cause of a misfire-ish problem Im having now and then, but no codes so I guess thats a good thing :)

jp kelly 01-03-09 02:42 PM

yeh people are saying dont touch them, but if i dont what else am i supposed to do, someone local to me has a set of fobs for my car now, ive changed the locks and ignition barrell but they can still open my car.

my only other option would be to sell the car to someone who lives no where near me, that way it woudn't matter would it so what do i do

Hang on - think you're getting your posts mixed up here mate.. I think Jay was saying to Rudedogg not to bother having it hooked up to T4 just for the sake of it and not referring to the garage, you have no choice but to take it to a dealer to sort it out, you've done all the hard bits by changing the lock/barrel, the synching of the scu and fobs is easy....

jp kelly 01-03-09 04:25 PM

rsm and ross with the charged zed say that messing with the ecu can disrupt the scu, and if this happens it works out a massive and costly job. my plan was to sell the zed in april anyway for a 180, just dont wanna end up splashing out hundreds when im going to sell it anyway

KevG 01-03-09 04:36 PM

You just need the Body controller (is the face lift model's SCU, these are now integrated together) to give access to the new fobs, you dont need to mess about with the engine ECU.

jp kelly 01-03-09 04:38 PM

dont really get what your saying kev haha, if i buy 2 new fobs with barcodes will x part be able to do it easy ?

KevG 01-03-09 05:00 PM

They will.

Yep... I was about to say that you wasted your time changing the locks if you're not having new fobs....can't see a problem, this happens alot you know...

jp kelly 01-03-09 05:37 PM

hopefully x part will also have the fob then??? cheers for the help guys
