UPDATE

Well as you all know by now the front bumper was in a right sorry state when I got the car, and after sitting outside in the rain for so long the front bumper was well rotten and past the point of being saved....

enter the new one

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3160149_n.jpg

Totally built from scratch by the guys at Autotechnique and grafted onto a Rover 45 bumper you would be hard pressed to tell it from the original - and it's actually lighter!

Thats way cool!! look forward to the rest of it.

RudeDogg1 10-03-10 05:43 AM

nice shame about the spoiler :p lol

ZS180V6 10-03-10 06:50 AM

Nice when will you be racing it ?

stamford 10-03-10 07:18 AM

Is this the ex-display BTCC version? The one with no guts? Nice to see it hasn't been broken up.

Maxxed_Ross 10-03-10 07:38 AM

it is indeed the spare one that didn't have an engine, but 70% of everything else is there.

It's going to be one hell of a project getting it running properly at BTCC spec with all the toys working, but it's getting there slowly.

No plans to race it yet, but that all depends on when it's finished

peterzs 10-03-10 08:32 AM

Looks a great project, ultimate track car!!!!

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::super::super:

wackyschild 10-03-10 09:31 AM

andys1981 10-03-10 10:21 AM

Maxfly 10-03-10 10:33 AM

Looks nae bad, whit missing/needing upgraded on her the now then?? :)

Nor 10-03-10 11:26 AM

That's quite a wing :) GL.

KevG 10-03-10 12:23 PM

IIRC, the last time I heard it didnt have any braking system or electrical system, I think it is just a rolling chassis, that had the Playstation hooked up to the steering wheel, and the big monitor placed in front of the windscreen, but since it was bought by RSM over a year ago for £2500 from Ebay, I dont think a lot of work got actually done to it as RSM had big plans for it, although I could be wrong.

p_b82 10-03-10 12:24 PM

ohh that looks stunning - even with the proper wing fitted :D

Jay-ZS+ 10-03-10 01:49 PM

Looks great, you got any jobs going where you work???? You must be doing pretty well for youself Ross :)

mattie007 10-03-10 01:56 PM

Im glad someone saved it for its real purpose!

RalphG 10-03-10 03:48 PM

The one that had the Playstation installed was sprayed in the RAC colours. I started trying to buy it... then I found out that the car was a Rover 400 that had been hacked around and rewelded multiple times.

Dave ZS-X 10-03-10 04:23 PM

great project mate, well done.

Ritchy 10-03-10 04:51 PM

looks great:D cant wait to see it

i dont think its this particular car tbh.

Southside_ZS 10-03-10 06:42 PM

Ahhh i wondered where that got to. Used to belong to Friersgate MG-Rover dealership in Tamworth was in their showroom until it closed down in late 2007. Then got moved the their other dealership in Lichfield. That then became Ford and they sold the ZS off. Then it appeared on Ebay again in Lichfield then RSM bought it.

It was indeed outside Stainless Creations, but it was just there for the day to get the exhaust made up and fitted. It'll be going back once the engine is running to have the intercooler pipework done too

This isn't the playstation version. It was a spare full BTCC shell that was used as a mock up to sit outside the VIP tent.

RSM did quite a bit of work to it over the winter and it now has most of the fuel system, some electrics and a T-series engine 70% fitted. With a bit more work it should be running by the time I get back onshore again - or be very close to it. Certain aspects like the brakes are going to be a bit of a nightmare but it's getting there

Haha well this is the 3rd time I've had the deposit saved to buy a house and blown it on something daft instead :look:

Thanks, hopefully it will get on track this year and once run in and set-up properly I'll be going to all the track days I can with it

Yeah that's the one. Thanks for that info, I didn't know the exact details of what had happened with it

It does indeed  I can't wait to take it out and see what it can do

Tony10 11-03-10 12:54 PM

I am looking forward to this one being finished and running. Looks great all ready Ross!

LozMachine 13-03-10 01:56 PM

Looks great mate, hope the build goes well,
Now then Ross, about those arches............................................ ...:kissing2:

Maxxed_Ross 13-03-10 04:52 PM

haha, you'd need 50mm spacers all round if you had them on a road car!

RalphG 19-03-10 04:52 PM

If you need an engine for this project I have a very nice 2.0L supercharged engine that was being developed for use in a production ZS.

Maxxed_Ross 19-03-10 06:25 PM

hmmmm tempting

how much?

Tony10 22-03-10 11:41 AM

uh-oh! supercharged?

Maxxed_Ross 22-03-10 01:09 PM

haha I wish, it's going to to cost too much I think

Is that the Janspeed built one with Eaton blower mounted on the side and Omega forged pistons?? Approx 250 bhp IIRC?

RalphG 23-03-10 05:15 PM

Yes, that's the one. I've tracked down the people that mapped the engine, and they still have the maps to load onto a new ECU.

Maxxed_Ross 23-03-10 05:37 PM

if I had the money I'd have it off you in a second.... but the coilovers, fire extinguisher system and the bodywork needing done have put an end to that idea

LozMachine 23-03-10 06:16 PM

Ooooh what bodywork ya getting done? :fishing:

Maxxed_Ross 24-03-10 06:55 AM

Nothing drastic, the front arch extensions are starting to come away, the front bumper need alot of work to get it perfect again and the roof needs re-painted

Marky Mark 24-03-10 09:00 AM

Are you keeping it the same race colours, and I take it the car will be going just on track? :smile1:

Maxxed_Ross 24-03-10 09:23 AM

yeah it'll be keeping the stripes but I'm un-decided as to what stickers are going back on once it's cleaned up

Tony10 24-03-10 09:41 AM

you need to get a massive theMGZS.co.uk sticker!

peterzs 24-03-10 10:30 AM

Maye you need a sponsor to give you some stickers.

:yes::yes::yes::yes::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Maxxed_Ross 24-03-10 11:43 AM

I actually have a few already, so most of the old sponsors won't be going back on again
