Couple from last summer:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...S/100_3406.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...S/100_3401.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...S/100_3404.jpg

Mods since I got the car (apart from the obvious white decals and wheels):

Superchip
Janspeed Decat and Peco stainless backbox
Rear upper and lower strut braces (waiting to get a front lower, got a honda item but kv6 sits too low)
Drilled and grooved disks all round, Redstuff all round.
Oil catch tank
Electroluminescent dials
Short Shifter
Xenon headlight bulbs
Also had cambelts, water pump and stat done.
I think thats about everything.

Planned mods:

Small things first like remove orange filter from lights, and fit MGF steering wheel (soooooo much nicer) then
Manifolds (next)
Coilovers
Cams
Supercharger would be nice but availability and reliability is an issue
and am also tempted by a T16 turbo conversion.

Well thats it. Hopefully some of you like it.

:)

The only thing I'm not too keen on is the huge hole in the bumper for the cold air feed :) Other than that though looks good!

I'll have to post some pictures of my Trophy Blue 180 at some point... will finish the body work and clean it first though! lol

chrismyatt82 18-02-11 11:21 AM

Looks good to me

Just think you need to change your licence plates! Lol

petet16 18-02-11 11:25 AM

Nice enough car, but the air intake is a fail lol

I know the hole looks a bit odd but the throttle response is much better since adding the feed. Functional rather than cosmetic :cool2:

It's been hard to clean cars properly. So damn cold. What you got loft to do on bodywork then?

Next thing. They look so bad!

Functional. That hot engine was sapping power when the car warmed up!

petet16 18-02-11 11:34 AM

Not very functional when it's positioned at right angles to the direction of airflow, unless you spend a lot of time sideways, or is it extracting hot air.

Oh, Need new badges, need new rear bumper (some arse hit me in a car park and ran off) and need to fit the body kit!

IIRC it doesn't matter :) and it looks fairly functional to me, its not a ram air, but the engine will suck in as much cold air as it wants\needs :)

So by that reckoning then no air comes into the car when you open the windows??

Yes a lot of air will blow past but it isnt at a right angle, and your theory would make the side vents on an MGF useless too!

petet16 18-02-11 11:57 AM

Yeah, lots of air comes in through open side windows, remove the windscreen and see the difference, mgf intakes have scoops iirc to help direct the air.

MGF didn't... MGTF Did ;)

I would have liked to have the feed at the front and thought about removing the fog light but I decided against it. Otherwise its a case of cutting metal away and didnt want to do that.

The TF has scoops on the vents, the F doesn't.

Mr ZS180 18-02-11 12:02 PM

ZS beat me to it lol

petet16 18-02-11 12:08 PM

OK cool

Nice car anyway:smile1::smile1:

stamford 18-02-11 12:14 PM

Looks good with white on trophy blue, I had white starights before, a right pita to keep clean and track days killed the finish due to the heat! Not liking the CAF though, wrong position as it is not taking advantage of the cold air at speed, you will suffer from turbulence with it there.

Other mods are good. How do you find the handling with the rear braces? Did you do them together or one at a time? I have heard the back is too tight for road use especially in the wet with them fitted. It's one mod I haven't really pushed to do as yet.

Big difference between open windows and a small aperture. The F ones are angled slightly, some has modified theirs to scoop more air in as it is not optimal in design.

Thanks.

I am thinking about the T16 turbo conv in mine as I didnt realise when I bought the car that the cost of tuning the KV6 is astronomical if you want a lot of power. The T16 turbo is much easier and I know about that engine a bit as I had a modified 220 Coupe Turbo.

I do agree that at speed it will not be optimal and I am looking into some sort of small side ram, a tiny Impreza vent would be nice ;), but there arent really any vents the ideal size or shape. I was thinking about modifying a gauge pod and fibreglassing and blending it in so it only appeared as a slight bulge but will do the job.

I bought the side scoops for my MGF but the (supposedly reputable) online company never delivered, never returned emails and never answered the phone, so I just lost out on them and never bothered trying to buy them again.

Leigh_EvoIX 18-02-11 12:55 PM

Not really a fan to be honest. As long as the owner is happy though it doesn't matter.

Exhaust is not centered, Cupra splitter looks gash and is bulging all over the place, would of been better running a CAF from the front mesh...

Pic 1 and 3 look nice though.

BUCKYDEVIL 18-02-11 01:40 PM

Very clean looking car and Im sure it's your pride and joy modded to your own taste which everyone has different opinions on which is why forums are good for a variety of ideas.
I like the white wheels & clear indicators.
BUT: sorry the decals are lame, front bumper/side CAF isnt a good look and Splitter although is a good idea doesnt seem to sit right.
Need some coolant in that bottle too mate, totally empty.

stamford 18-02-11 02:08 PM

Why remove the pictures? they were good! As said before you'll get all types of comments some good some not so. You are not alone in getting negative comments on mods, even I have suffered the wrath on here! So don't take it personally, remember we do have a diverse bunch on here of all age groups and backgrounds. Just join in and suffer like we all do!

midcuk 18-02-11 02:20 PM

post the picture back up again mate sorry i missed it

and dont worry about this lot some on the site always give me grief about mine , but if you are happy then thats the main thing :) you will get good and bad opinions probably about 50/50 if you are controversial.

and remember opinions are like a$$holes everyone has one

petet16 18-02-11 02:22 PM

Stick em back up mate, you'll always get positive and negative comments, it's a forum after all, thats how it's supposed to work.:smile2:

I just realised that the majority of people on the site have standard cars in showroom condition and I was not going to get many good comments at all, plus the fact that I'm planning more mods, which clearly wont go down well.

I will put up some pics of my SD1 though which was fairly standard and the one thing I miss from it is the V8! I want one in my Z

Please dont take criticism as a personal attack.
It's your car modded to your taste, put pics back up & stand by your convictions.
All that matters is that YOU like it.

Maxfly 18-02-11 02:37 PM

maybe, but variety is the spice of life:D I canna see any pics the now as am on the works computer but whap them back up:) Not everyone, likes everything, on others cars but as said everyone has an opinion, be it good or bad in the recipients view:)
There was both positive and negative comments on yours from what I see and it can be best to take the rough with the smooth, personally what i do is acknowledge the negative, think about what they are saying and if after i have a wee ponder i still like what others don't I am happy. Besides it is good to have something a bit different on the forum:strongbench:

Steves Cleenz 18-02-11 02:37 PM

cant be that bad of a car, i bet it isnt that same colour as a tranny's make up selection like mine is !! PMSL!!

I think most have carried out mods so you are not alone. Seen mine? As for future mods, please let us in on what you have planned. There are a few on here tracking them so you are not alone. Mine isn't showroom condition and after 6 years of ownership and 60k miles in my hands it is used but looked after, if you know what I mean ;)

That's on my wishlist, rwd V8 powered ZS :D

Mr ZS180 18-02-11 03:20 PM

Ok I will put the pics up again tomorrow then.

Thanks for the positive words folks :-)

lawrence-zs180 18-02-11 03:25 PM

She looked good when I first saw the pics and as said its yours not anyone else on here... the dials looked good, how hard where they to do.
I got stick with the red coach stripe on my brg 180 but now I have the black alloys with red rims it actually works haha.

Bobdope2002 18-02-11 03:45 PM

get the pics back up

peterzs 18-02-11 03:53 PM

I'd say most on here have mods to some extent, and its your car to do what you want with. As long as your happy and the results give you more power or whatever, why care what others think.

Bit like my yellow car, I love it but some of the comments you get, makes me laugh/spit.

We are a friendly bunch on here and are here to help, stick the photos back up.

I put a union jack on the top of my 1st one mate ....

http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i.../UJRoof003.jpg

Some slaughtered it - others - particularly on here said - "Not for me mate, but if you like it, that's what counts" and that's the general response from this site. Variety is the spice of life, and we acknowledge that. You've put your stamp on that car....

I saw the pics - Trophy Blue I think with white x power decals and white wheels. New addition was a nice black splitter.

Now - the decals aren't for me - but I liked pretty much all of the rest. Especially the dials. Come lad - get them back up. :console:

Craig 18-02-11 06:21 PM

I saw some of the pics. I really liked the white decals again st trophy blue. I wouldnt have the balls to do it myself, but I do like it.

haGGard 18-02-11 06:47 PM

I look forward to seeing the pics! Everyone has their own tastes, shouldn't feel you can't show it off on here. People will have good and bad opinions on it, the same as when people see you driving it down the street.

Huffy 18-02-11 08:14 PM

We own MGz's so by default we all have massive shlongs and don't worry about people opinions!

Personaly if someone doesn't like my car, i overtake them, drop to 1500rpm, and plant my right foot, after that they cant see my car and need to head for they're nearest "Mr Shine"

My best Mate has an MX5.... he spends his life in the shower!

Come on mate, in your intro post on the other thread you said you'd get flamed.

I have to keep mine outwardly looking standardish but I have been flamed seriously on other forums for my T16 maestro, still waiting for it to appear on barryboys - :)

Stick them pics back up.

but will i care ?????
