Rear brakes

Hi

I am planning to replace front and rear discs and pads tomorrow.

Just read the how to guide and I mentions a piston wind back tool for the rears.

Can it still be done without this tool ?

Thanks

Craig..

Yep, use a wide blade screw driver or a steel ruler.

As above just make sure the rubber boot round the piston doesn't snag :)

Good tip ;) twist it slow is my advice.

The spanner for an angle grinder works well as well.

And only wind the pistons clockwise

All good advice above.

A couple of other things, a clean with some wd40 and a nylon brush where the dust seal fits round the piston lessens the chance of the dust seal turning with the piston, and also when the piston is wound fully in it might need a slight turn to make sure the legs of the recessed cross in the face of the piston are straight up and down, and straight forward and back.

Certainly throwing some money at the car mate .... good luck with the change.
