whining sound
coming from the rear end of the zed, underneath, fuel tank kind of area, whines constantly whilst engine on, fuel pump?? costly??
|
Possibly fuel pump, can you check it against another zed?
Electric pump circa £88 or in-tank pump assembly £288 but prices not latest, as per Rimmer Bros. |
no other zeds are local ish to that i know of, thought it wouldn't be a cheap job
|
Get one from a local scrappy, not certain but they may all be the same spec, including any Rover injection etc
|
just the pump or complete tank and pump assembly?
|
Having never removed one I would guess a whole assembly might be best as the sender is part of the assembly. However it is not a tank in place procedure, so the tank will need to be dropped to access it.

my brother is a bmw tech, he's just had a look and he says its most likely the fuel pump, so will be dropping my fuel tank off in the next couple of days! see if i can fix it! as a forklift tech myself not really my territory but ill give it a shot !

Hi, I`m in Shirley, if you want to listen to another pump as a comparison.

What engine is yours? Not sure about the 2.5 but i know the k-series 1.4/1.6/1.8 uses the same pump across the range and im pretty sure they use the same pump as the old 400 so plenty in the scrapyards.

I sometimes get a whining sound in my car, it usually stops when the wife gets out though!
