Project Twilight 1 (ZS-X) - The Tart Up!

Hi Guys,

I have a big list of things I need to get sorted on the car ready for next year so I wanted to put it down here for me and others to look at/refer to. (I will loose my scrap of paper!)

Here goes:

PAINTWORK
  • Replace nearside wing - body kit cracked
  • Front end re-spray - stone chipped/cracking on bonnet vent
  • Rear quarter spray
  • re-spray door - due to scratch
  • Might be easier to do full re-spray?

MECHANICAL
  • Decat - DONE
  • Inlet manifold/VIS replace - DONE
  • Belts - DONE
  • Tracking - DONE
  • XPower Springs - DONE

EXTERIOR SPRUCING
  • Clean headlights up - DONE
  • New badges
  • Custom ZS-X badge?
  • Fix/replace door handles - maybe use honda handles?
  • Show plates - DONE
  • Paint brake calipers
  • refurb alloys
  • New dark ice bonnet lifters
  • Wind deflectors

INTERIOR SPRUCING
  • Install 45 Steering Wheel - DONE
  • Install new stereo
  • Install rear speakers - DONE
  • New genuine mats
  • Fix dash clock
  • Full pro detail

So now it seems that I need some money... wish me luck!

Here is a pic as she is right now :

The the car looks like it needs a lot of time spending on it - looks pretty rank .... ;)

Plenty to be getting on with there.

As for the bodywork - if you can stretch to it, I'd say get it all done at the same time by a trusted sprayer.

This was superb back when I saw it at Saloon Day.

Wasn't impressed I was put next to it - my Sunspot was put to shame! :D

Looks very good, anybody know where to get them MG ZS plates made up? I've asked a few motor factors near me that do number plates and they all say they can't make the exact copies the best they can do its silver on black aluminium pressed plates

Have a look at the offerings online.

Well, she is going for a full service, belts, inlet, VIS and MOT next week.

Once all this is done, it's on to the body work, paint etc...

Lukeus101 18-01-16 12:08 PM

Expensive month...well worth it :D

john180 13-02-16 12:11 PM

Belts and Inlet done - it was a second hand one and still has a slight rattle but loads better than it was. Doing a few bits today too...

Headlight restore mainly... :)

Just a random update to say I'm bring the ZS-X out of hibernation for the show at Harrogate in August.

MOT next week. May need some work on the brakes, new tyres and a few other bits to make it road legal.

Was looking out for you at PoL. Glad it’s still in your hands. What happened to the other one?

I still have the other one :)

I've had a lot on the last couple of years with business and family so I haven't been out to shows much. Missed PoL but hoping to get back into it this year and get to a couple of events.

The car is still a work in progress but getting there.

Work and family have a habit of getting in the way but our ‘projects’ will always be there even if they have to take a back seat. Mine has been off the road for 3 years now, still plenty to do.

Don't they just, my maestro has been nagging me for the last 12 years.
