Problems
Having problems since it rained the other day , i had no choice of hitting large puddles at speed , had a cop car wanting to get past.
Since then when i turn left or right i get a horrible scrapping noise , sounds like the exhaust dragging on the floor, i believe this could be CV joints as they haven't had any boots on for months . I have these ready to change. Another problem is when driving in a straight line the car feels really loose , steering is kind of the same as a flat Tyre. Steering wheel pulls left then straight and then center , keeps doing this. Ball joints? |
could be the disk shield, only flimsy pressed metal and can get bent enough for it to hit the disk.
Might be worth checking that first. |
Not sure mate - maybe wheel bearings? Need to get it all checked out though.

Sounds like disc dust shields. You not had any cv boots on at all? Are you mad?
Floating steering needs the geometry looking at to determine what's worn, track rods ends most likely then check the lower BJs. Whilst at it check the upper ones for movement. |
I had them but noticed they was split and never got the time to fix them , been sitting in the box for a few months , naughty i know.
I'll check the shields , there is a thumping noise so i just thought CV joints as its only when driving slow and turning. |
My first port of call would be changing the joints - if they're seizing due to lack of grease, they can cause all sorts of symptoms.

Turns out it was the cv joint . Pulled out the house and up the hill out of my road and SNAP , lost all drive . Guy walking his dog sh*t himself when it happened and I did too .
Dipped the clutch so the driveshaft wasn't spinning and rolled down the hill. Called the step father to tow me back to my house . Lucky I ordered 2 cv joints and all the boots around 2 months ago , changed them out . All good ! Started the engine and noticed the dreaded rattle from the inlet manifold , I knew the car was down on power but I thought it was the fact I've got use to it. I had a spare inlet manifold in the shed from when i picked the car up. Just been out for a spin and WOW the power , like a new I noticed the gears had been harder to engage recently.Well it appears to be leaking from the bell housing ? Any thoughts . Topped up with around half a bottle of MTF-94 I had and it changed gears like a champ. Just goes to show my laziness recently. Oil change tomorrow and she will be grand :) |
Input shaft oil seal most likely, that's if it's mtf 94, if it's engine oil it'll be the rear crank seal
