180 Track car
I really want a 180 track car and the perfect one has cropped up.
Its a 2001 saloon with 55k. Janspeed Manifolds Janspeed Exhaust/Sportscat Maxogen induction Cobra bucket seats/harnesses 186.2 bhp on the rolling road So its a very decent spec and a car I have driven around Rockingham last year, felt quicker than the Westfield and sounded nicer! Should I do it? Probably the last chance I will get as petrol prices will soon kill off trackdays! Does £1300 sound good? I know 180's go for £500 plus nowadays but the spec and low mileage must add some value. |
Quicker than a 7  really ?
Go for it you wouldnt buy them upgrades on a £500 zs for the same money. |
Sounds like a good enough base. bhp seems low for the mods imo. So what's special about the induction then?

When I RR'd mine before the remap it gave 191 with standard manis, BMC CDA, decat and Janspeed system. So would expect it to be well over 190 with those mods. However it could exceed 200 with a remap. If sorted and straight then yes go for it.

Depends on what you want from it. I spent £300 more on a pretty decent (higher mileage) mk2 with full exhaust system, proper induction, oil catch tank, sheddist kit, an upgraded clutch, HID conversion.
Just so you can compare, I bought the track car for under £700, completely standard with a rattly plenum being its only real issue at 76k miles. |
Sounds like a resonable price for a car with over £700 worth of exhaust and over £200 of induction.
Is it still road legal? |
186bhp with them mods isnt good at all !! you should be seeing at least 194bhp.
Our stage one with remap exhaust system(no performance manifolds) and air filter made 200bhp ! G |
