It looks like a monogram but it's smashed up and has a water pump leak.....

MG ZS STE 03-07-17 09:12 PM

Someone will buy it as a project I suspect. 1 of 2 moonshine makes it rare.

but once repaired it'll require an awesome painter if it gets away without a full respray, and if it gets a full respray it doesn't matter what colour it is.

Except that it will be moonshine from the factory... And according to the Monogram "clique" thats what makes a monogram. Take your Perl Black ZS and spray it moonshine and it is not a monogram in their eyes...

I *think* the winning bidder at the moment is a certain Biomorphic Green ZS owner... or one of his friends at least. (And he's spent over £10k getting that Bio up to scratch)

Big money already. That'll need a good panel beater and sprayer to sort that.

Mg zs 180 mk2 in monogram sunspot yellow. 80k, history, fresh mot. Alcantara seats, 11 spokes, fully working aircon/climate control, colour coded interior, mgf trophy steering wheel, good strong v6 engine, smoked rear lights, front yellow seat belts, number 13 of 15 and 1 of only 4 mk2. Not perfect as it's a 14+ year old car. Needs paint in a few small places, never fussed me and it's won several shows like it. Full stainless exhaust system, rear parking sensors, mg rally mudflaps, chrome mirror caps. Very well known car. £8000 ono

Wish I had bought a monogram when they weren't quite as expensive!

Dan1971 04-07-17 05:30 PM

Over 5K !

Maybe if it wasn't damaged aswell - but - come on ..... Bet whoever traded it in didn't get offered anything like that for it.

Pearl black is a monogram. the most common.

Is it? What exactly makes up a Monogram then?

Another Sam IIRC.

Tomkinson? I doubt he would have paid that... but could be wrong!

Drew 05-07-17 07:53 PM

I'm not sure pearl black makes it into the monogram scheme.

20 special order colours (extra cost options) at time of order on the mg's. Added another 12 in 2004.

I made a comment the other day on facebook about respraying my ZS in a monogram colour and selling it for £60k, but I was told it wasn't a true monogram because, aside from the "wrong build data" the interior would be completely wrong.

So, going back to my question. What makes a monogram a monogram if its not just paint. And I don't mean the build data side, I just mean the car itself...

Seems to be hit and miss with the prices on the zs . Ive got a firefrost 180 on a 54 plate and I think its in fairly good condition for a 12 year old car puts some cars a lot newer to shame when its been polished . But you see these cars going for around a grand to £1500 there is no way id be selling mine for that its worth way more to me than that . Now here is the big question do you think our zeds will ever be a classic and fetch good money in the future I,m told by some people they will one day and others saying the zs never will be a classic and also some say the mk1 might but not the mk2 now I thought maybe the other way around as there are less mk2 about guess its just hold on to them and see what happens

peterzs 30-07-17 11:52 AM

better the devil you know, they go well and look good, long as you keep the rust at bay cannot go wrong with them.

Specially in Trophy Yellow, Classic already. :-)

What else can you buy that ticks so many boxes.
