Swapping a Zr for a Zs180

Iv just found out im going to be a Dad :bounce:

BUT

My zr isnt very practical, Well it wont be..

Just wondered what you guys thought about swapping your zs`s for a zr..

Would you?

Or would it just be easier to sell mine:

Its a T16 But in no way thrown in like most
Was fully rebuilt before fitted and running a nice healthy 201 @ Wheels - 14psi

Few pics:

Its not got the cage no more and is like the last photo with the seats now fitted.

Please dont bombard my pm with offers as this is not a for sale or swap thread..

Just need your opinions for now..

If there is interest i will pay the selling fees and list the car for sale or swaps

Get a ZS in KV6 or T16 Turbo form ;) A ZS has better handling than the ZR as well as more space ;)
Would I swap my ZS for a ZR? "No" the ZS is a better all round package imho.

Im in the same situation mate and I've just brought a 180! And yeah it feels better than a zr & loads more room

Welcome to the site ....

You wouldn't be the first to grow up and move from a ZR to a ZS .... ;)

Plenty of engine options all with a degree of tuning potential, the derv in my view giving the best improvement per pound over standard if you're into modifying. The 180 has by far the best soundtrack and very good performance in standard fom but costly to eek out more than 200bhp.

As for practicality, don't feel tied to a hatch. It's a very good and practical car, but the saloon has a very different look, and a mahoooosive boot.

As for someone swapping into yours, your ZR looks awesome, whether it'd tempt someone from their ZS - not sure.

I never liked the Zr's anyway, so Im sticking with the ZS...... Now he is all fixed again, went for a spin round the lanes and boy WHAT FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to treat him to a wash, then polish then beddybyes in the garage........

Personally I much prefer my ZS180 saloon to my wifes 5 door ZR160 (and my T16 maestro fits somewhere inbetween) - and the boot is massive - I wouldn't swap.

Eye catching car BTW.

Very nice car but really only reiterating what others are saying. I would consider it a step back to get a ZR even in T16 form I'm afraid. Would be a fun track car though!

Lukeus101 26-08-12 10:46 PM

Didnt George do the conversion?

Smokey 27-08-12 12:45 AM

Yeah, mentioned on the throttle bodied thread.

Lukeus101 27-08-12 02:04 AM

AHHHH i see :)

stamford 27-08-12 06:30 PM

I was starting to like it until...........nice car btw. Never driven a ZR in anger, am I missing anything?

Steven11 27-08-12 06:49 PM

Much the same as the rest of the guys. The main thing i like about my Mk2 180 is the power delivery of the V6, never really been a fan of turbo cars.

There's no replacement for displacement

harland292 27-08-12 08:45 PM

Tbh George did do the conversion

But his work quality is top notch.. Iv noticed people mention his name and go defencive

Got bored of that already :chair: Haha..

But apart from george`s Slow progress in the conversion the quality is better than most iv seen, The loom looks OE.. The Battery was relocated to the boot etc..

And iv had it since 09 and the only problem iv had mechanically is the Alternator and Battery?

I was off to send the car down to him to get it forged.. But a baby on the way forces a swap.. or Sale...

Iv seen all Georges previous History but that`s all i see it as "History.."
But on his defence 1 bad job tells 10.. 1 good job tells a few.. On a forum one bad job tells thousands lol

Bit like a credit report..

When i was 18 i was in dept and had bailiffs etc credit was extremely poor..

Now is a different storey 5 years later....

But anyway

Lukeus101 27-08-12 08:48 PM

Its not just history mate, its very present but Im not open a can of worms.

Well im not sure, Not seen anything recent.. I still deal with him for parts..
So cant complain or moan at all as its all been Good so far at good prices..

petet16 27-08-12 09:19 PM

Old Chinese proverb, "those who ignore history may be destined to relive it" that is all.

Lukeus101 27-08-12 09:26 PM

^^^ Rep given

Nobrainer 28-08-12 05:19 AM

George owes me money for parts he never sent. If you can contact him you just get bs. Thats prey recent history. I wouldn't touch him for anything. He says his business is now defunct.
