Caliper
 

I'm getting a new caliper on Monday and want to fit it on Tuesday. Anyone about to help out who's done one before??

If not it will be a garage job as I haven't bled the brakes before myself and want to make sure that it's uber safe. Especially after the other day. Dave (POMPSKI) has offered to help when he can but he's not about during the days next week. (Thanks for the offer bud) ;)

What I tend to do is change the caliper myself and get a garage to replace the brake fluid so they bleed the complete system - my local Mr Clutch charge £40.

For some reason the brakes on these can be a pain to bleed with the two man system.

Much better to vaccume them first, big syringe works well. Pressure bleeding them also works.

I would have given you a hand but you are just to far away.

There's a thought, may well do that as I'll have the extra piece of mind of new fluid and the system being bled.

How safe is it to drive from home to the garage tho if the brakes haven't been bled and air has got into the system?

DONT DO IT... The pedal will hit the floor YOU WILL HAVE NO BRAKES.

I wouldn't know what to do properly and most of my mates are tards when it comes to mechanics. Thanks for the offer but yeah, it's a bit too far ;)

Might just get the garage to do the job as they will have to bleed the brakes anyway wont they?

I do a partial bleed just get a bit of feel to be able to drive the car but if you're not happy doing that and not happy driving with poor brakes then it would be better to get the garage to do the work.

The garage will only bleed the caliper they change unless you ask them to do the others in which case they may as well do a full fluid change, this should be done every couple of years anyway.

Changed my fluid along with discs/pads last month, it really is not too difficult. If you have lighting on your drive I can come after work? Should be able to do the caliper & bleed it in an hour easy.
