Coolant temp sensor
The coolant temp sensor on the ZS isn't working properly. The car started overheating last night and as soon as I turned the heaters on the gauge returned to normal however the rad fans didn't come on until I turned the engine off. I'm stuck between whether it's the thermostat is on its way out or the temp sensor. I'm going to replace the sensor first as it's the easiest job and because it's an intermittent fault I would assume the thermostat isn't fully to blame as it would be more frequent if that was the case? looking on DMGRS there is a black, blue and a brown sensor for the K-series so which one do I need?

You have 2 sensors on your car. One temp sensor does the dash gauge, the other does the ECU.
Unplugging one will cause your dash gauge drop to zero, the other should cause the fan to come on. I can't remember which colours you will have on your car but if you look under the bonnet you should be able to see them. |
Okay cheers

K-series engine have two temperature sensors, one for gauge, second for ecu. At this moment I am not sure for KV6 engine, so would need to check for it.

I have no idea about the KV6 but in this instance we are talking about a 4 pot, a 105 IIRC.

Blue - temp gauge
Black - MEMS 3 Brown - pre MEMS 3 |
