MG Engine.....how much is it worth??
Hi guys, have somebody interested in buying the engine from my mg once i get it back.........
Can anyone give me any idea of what i should be asking for it as not really sure how much its worth its done 40,000 miles Cheers guys.. |
1.8 0r 2.5?
1.8 usually fetch around £400-£500 for solid cam, £300-£700 for VVc depending weather 143bhp or 160bhp. Yes i know they never made a vvc zs :mml: 2.5 i've seen go for silly money. £1000+ |
its the 2.5l V6 minus one power vis motor for ross...as you'll have seen the crash was mainly side on and the engine looks undamaged.
|
I would love a spare unit to tinker with................but I think it would be too much wonga.
|
No idea mate .... but .... Buy a dog of a car, spray it white and dump the engine in .... Sorted.
|
Anyone else have any idea what it might be worth??
or at least what I should be asking for it?? |
I'd say it's worth £1k easy, and I still recon it's the best feeling KV6 I've ever driven. It was so silky smooth
But a cheap ZR and dump the KV6 front end into it - you'll have the ultimate track weapon! |
I don't know what the V6 would be worth but Rimmer Bros have one of the 4.8 V8's for £2.5k + VAT (and it's new)

probably because that's just a yank Ford engine lol
|
Put it on ebay, the KV6 is a sought after transplant engine for track cars and kit cars. It won't be just MG, Rover and LandRover owners looking for them.
QED are always modding them for track cars as they are an ideal engine, strong and very light. I reckon you should get near on a grand for it. Expect to be asked for the drive train and ecu/loom etc. Advertise it for conversions to get shot of a few more items. Try the Motoring News etc. |
