Just signed up today. Do I need to wait a particular length of time, before I can join in on these type of threads?

Course you can ... ;)

The motors actually turn parts inside the manifold. When you plug the tester into the motor, by moving the direction switch, the motor gets a message to turn. If the vis motor is working you'll hear the motor turn and get the green light. Simples.

Yep both motors.

When you have the switch on the tester set to the right motor you are testing - flip the direction toggle to make it move the motor. Then flip the direction toggle the other way. The motor turns through about 45 degrees. Basically as you change the direction, the motor should move and the green light come on.

KevG 03-04-13 05:59 PM

The "Change Direction" sends the motor backwards and forwards, Rossy, didnt know you were in Dundee mate.

If any the motors isnt doing anything, then its pumped, and needs repaired/replaced.

Rossy 03-04-13 08:47 PM

Thanks for that advice tested tonight and looks like my balance vis motor is gubbed I get a green light but no movement from the motor in any direction ... This all I need at the moment still trying to rebuild up my dash and centre console having trouble with wiring and now a new vis needed, had a look at vulcan racing didn't realise how expensive they are to replace ..oh well need to source one and get that tested so I can pass on the tester asap .

Dude, I have a number of VIS motors (Power and Balance) that I maybe able to kick back into life, a few from members on here (these are gubbed), and a few I liberated from a scrappy, which show some promise, If and I mean If, I maybe able to help you out, I'm going down to Wales next week, so it will be some time after that.

I've got a spare checked and tested, that Kev sent me in return for my old gubbed motor.

I propose that you bung me enough to cover postage and then send your gubbed one to Kev to look at.

That should work out the cheapest way for you and get it all sorted quickly.

Rossy 18-04-13 09:49 PM

Well thanks to Dan and Kev and his tester my balance motor is now sorted and I will be sending on to Mick uk as next on the list . Once again a big thanks to Dan and Kev for helping me out ...cheers lads now to conquer the on going saga of my electrics ..( head scratch)..time .............

Time for another check, had a Golf GT 1.4TSI 160PS pulling away from me on a straight. Unless that square box had it chipped.
