The spoiler is actually calculated to be in the direct airflow over the roof, any lower and it wouldn't create any downforce only drag. At the height it is, yes it will create some drag but it will also create downforce at speeds over 55mph.

I did a fair bit of research into this and spoke to the racing gurus in America where I bought the spoiler from.They actually recommended a longer spoiler to gain effect from the sides of the car and have it as wide as the wing mirrors but it cost a fair bit more and I was a little unsure that it might be illegal on the road.

The mountings are set to 10.5 inches which is the optimal height and the angle of attack is 2 degrees. Apparently I can go as far as 4 degrees before any significant loss of speed. I noticed on track in the wet the back end was very light and liked to step out, this and the suspension changes, camber angles etc should help...

but best of alll I like the look of it....I'm having fun with it and thats all that counts.

Its quick, handles well and sounds the dogs, just the cage to make...oh and carbon wrap the roof to match the bonnet and boot

downforce is an interesting subject and something that really starts to work above 70mph, meaning corners like corums, gerards and most of thruxton are prime subjects.


Concern for oversteer must be the practical reason most fit big spoilers (looks are not really practical when discussing speed) but an understanding of how the rear active suspension works and its effect on the front suspension is an interesting subject that can provide many an answer for both oversteer and understeer issues.
