ATC Unit modded

Well, I feel I needed to give Kev some credit on the work he did to my ATC unit.

As you know, my car theme is black/red with my new switches in the centre console being red.

My goal is to have the dials red/white and I wanted the ATC to match this.

It's hard to tell from the pictures but the original was pale orange screen and pale orange buttons.

Now the screen is more red (it has become more orange in the photo ironically!) and the buttons are now white.

You can tell this by comparing it to the 'hot' button which is bright red in the car but orange in the photo!

It looks so much better in person and looks more modern too!

Thanks Kev!!

How easy is it to change the colour of the backlight?

Smokey 14-07-12 11:51 AM

Not easy at all. We were lucky in that red was easier with the orange LED's. We just added a red film behind the filter.

Otherwise its lots of desoldering!

Not impossible though.

Looks good, compliments that console very well IMO.

How hard would it be to change to say blue, guess they are smd leds that would need desoldering?

Funny how the std dash illumination is more red during sunset and turns a bit orange when it's completely dark outside, not surprised the photos don't show it right. Anyway, I really like your project.

There are loads of SMD's to desolder if you want to change the screen to blue. I just out a red filter in to go from orange to red.

The buttons are mini LEDs :)

And cheers zsserbia. Trying to have something unique.
