Engine or Clutch issue?

Just as I thought my car was sorted it appears to have a big issue. Just seems dead flat under 2000 revs and I need to give it a lot revs to pull away.
It's the original clutch on 82k and just passed the MOT....

Could it be a sensor issue?

andys1981 04-08-12 08:08 PM

blocked catalist?

mattie007 04-08-12 08:13 PM

It just sailed through the MOT so I'd have thought it would of been picked up then?
How would I know if it's a faulty CAT?

i know with my golf it wouldent rev over 3k,and the cat had collapsed, but in your case is the clutch maybe slipping,ie accelerating and not going anywhere

So many things it could be. Above 3k it revs freely, below it's just lumpy and slow. I'm no mechanic but if the cat has gone why would that matter as a lot of people have them removed?

If the cat was blocked it wouldn't rev freely beyond 3k, most likely wouldn't even get to 3k.

Could it be something to do with the iacv.

IACV?
It did have an idle issue recently but sorted itself. Guess it could be that again?

Sorry, Idle Air Control Valve.

Where is it located? Is it worth giving it a clean with WD40?
