Wiring

Does anyone know which wires do what on the cars?? Do Rover /MG use the same system on all models for the looms or are they different? trying to find out how to test the motor on my R45 V6 cruise pump to see if it is working but not sure which wires do what. I have the wiring diagram off RAVE but it doesn't tell you what the wires do. Any help much appreciated lads as I don't want to blow the motor by connecting it up wrong if it's ok. T4 said pump has no power.

You'd be best getting a multi meter on the connector and see what has current, or not as the case may be.

Trouble is the thing only works over 29mph, so not easy to check. Tried multimeter, but only lights up on 1 terminal when brake pedal deprssed. I want to run the pump motor but don't know which terminals to connect to to power it up if it's ok. Don't want to blow it out if it's sound.

Get a couple of lengths of wire and a fuse holder and make up a pair of jump leads so you can connect the pump to the battery.

Usual issue with cruise failing is a small tear or hole in the rubber boot around the actuator! I think the terminology is correct

Got pump running finally figured it out without frying it, just got to test valves now, maybe where the fault is, if not it's wiring to pump. Actuator ok, no holes. Will let you know but thanks for the input

Please do, if you get it going it may encourage me to trip fitting it to my mk2 ZS.

Finally got the wiring to pump figured out & it seems it is working perfectly we even got the vacuum to work the actuator all fine. Next step was to test the ECU which was only showing an output of 0.3 to 0.8 volts which is why the T4 said low power to pump. Second hand ECU ordered so will let you know the outcome.

Excellent work, if you get it fitted and working I think we need a How To guide... :D
