Wanted ZR 1.4 - swap for MG ZS 120+ Atomix
So with the lady on the cusp of passing her driving test I am thinking of downsizing cars (but still keeping in the MG family). She has been a fan of MG ZR's forever so ideally would like in a swap for a ZR 1.4 5 door.
The MG for swap... Mark 1 (52 plate) 1.8 120+ Atomix 93k miles Decent service history (garage and previous owner who was enthusiast) Proper head gasket change for Land Rover replacement MOT - January 2015 (advisories were tyres which are fine and the rear number plate lacquer) Discs and caliper change in January Taxed - July 2014 Silver Michelin tyres on all 4 corners MG multispoke alloys LED rear brake lights Half leather interior Kenwood head system Loads of receipts etc. and two keys Would like to see this go to a good home so I can give the Mrs something a little more sedate to drive for a few years, and two cars isn't worth it as I am only 3 miles from work! So yeah, let me know if you fancy a swapsie. What is more practical than a 5 door hatch back, you wont get a much bigger boot unless you buy a van. MPV's have very little boot space and 4x4 aren't great as a first car.

Thanks for the responses.
I agree boot size etc. is fine on the MG.. where the challenge lies in that it's a sport 1.8 so just to pootle about town with the odd distance drive is counterproductive. Also it is low, so with a reasonably heavy 1 year old to get in a car seat is a tricky operation for me so she will struggle... I love driving the car, it is a brilliant drivers car that makes me smile every morning I get in it. But it's a bit too much for a first time driver |
I find it hard to think your 120 is unsuitable for a first car. It is ideal in every way, not too fast, good driving position, not low for loading/unloading toddler seats. It is an ideal family car, don't let the MG badge fool you. If you had three kids with alot of gear then that is a little different. I would stick with it personally.

I see no issue in it as a family car, the issue is that she will be the main driver and she finds it too long for her and would want something with a slightly smaller engine. Managed to get some compromise in getting a 1.4 ZR instead... works for me
