Mg zs120 vvc (from Spain)

Hello!
Im pleasured to present my ZS vvc145 swap.

Originally its a K120, i buy with first headgasket failure on 127.000km on 2015. Decided no repair the engine, and swap, fiirst option is swap to T16, but is not legal in my country :(

Finally decided retroswap to K, but not k120...... To VVC!

The donor for vvc conversion is a rover 25vi (gti in UK market) it's a vvc145 with mems3 system. Only adapt one conector and rules!!!

taking advantage of the fact that the engine is out of car..... changed the headgasket, belts, bearings, sparks and more components before install on ZS.

4-2-1 vvc manifold not catalyst, and modify exhaust line to case with rear zs line, cause several problems with Spanish MOT (ITV)

First vvc start:

Nice swap, how do you like the drive compared to the non-vvc version?

In low count rev, the vvc its more usable, and more progressive response. in the upper part of the rpm account, it is much more cheerful than k120.

And gearbox from 145 vvc helped, its larger ratio than k120 for long travel, and help for low fuel consumption!

definitely much nicer to drive the vvc

Example acceleration in third gear:

Tomorrow change the rear stabilicer bar, originally 18mm, to 21mm. And clean the IAC sensor

Glad you repaired it & didn't break it.... Though sorry you had the accident in the first place!

What paint colour did you use instead of trophy blue - or was it a not quite successful colour match?

peterzs 11-01-19 11:37 AM

Shame you had the crash, but well done on getting back on the road.

The colour variant JFV used is from seat catalog (Leon/ibiza). Not the same from mg, but practically identical.

Have a good drive, hope it all works OK.

Looks warmer there than here.

talkingcars 13-01-19 03:25 PM

Pleased to see it was repaired quickly.

And nice to see frost on the car, I think we have only had one proper frost here, near Gatwick, this winter.

rupin 13-01-19 05:55 PM

In my house, frost 6 to 7 days at week in winter. Normally night temps is -2/5°C.
I live in mountain, at 60km to the Mediterranean sea. Summer is very hot, and winter serious cold.
