Coolant light on start up

Hi all

After starting the car, the coolant light stays on for 30 secs - 3 or 4 mins then goes out, is it just a cae of a trip to Halfrauds for some Anti Freeze and whacking it in? :baby::whistle::trampoline:

probably mate, have you checked the coolant? it needs to be half way up the expansion tank. if its a bit low the light will come on. When the engine is warm the level rises slightly so the light would go out. Have a look under the bonnet and make sure the coolant is half way up the tank. But only when its cold :D If you get some antifreeze make sure its the O.A.T as recommened by MG

had the same issue with my MK2, topped it up with some antifreeze from Halfords and it has been more or less fine (it's come on 2 or 3 times but for less than a minute)
