While clearing the shed last weekend I came across the tool kit that came with my Lada, even had a tyre lever, welcome to borrow it if you want.
|
These tyres do look good, and they are the new drift model.
demon tweeks sell them.........http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/perfor...-z1-drift-tyre Funny thing is they have the same tyre for £198 each whereas I paid under £240 for all four! |
Smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Today I managed to get the tyres fitted.
Brakes were delivered, as too the HEL braided hoses. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ps8df86710.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...psfeda3ba6.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...psc19373b8.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...pse71366ad.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...pse3bddb3d.jpg Also managed to do some work this evening, freed off both rear brake hoses. Had to get a disc cutter and use a power saw to get through the seized inner LCA mount. Partially stripped and cleaned the rear calipers. Also found that the anti-roll bar coating is coming off, so looks like I may have to remove the bar, strip it and get it powder coated. Might pay to get a set of polybushes for it. Gina can get her hands on an arch roller this weekend as her local vdub specialist has one in the shop I can use apparently. |
Sound all good news.

Looking good Mick :) You'll have the Zed in tip top shape in no time at this rate!
|
Thanks Sam, alas it won't be ready for Duxford as running out of time and not wanting to rush things. So I'll be taking my time and getting it finished for the end of July most likely. May as well clean and paint a few bits along the way.

Today:

Must be feeling loads better!!!!
Left me knackered just reading it!! Well done, specially in this heat!! :beer2::beer2::beer2: |
Having these bits to do have turned out to be good for you I think pal... Good effort...
|
What offset you get for the wheels? Theyre 9inch wide ones right? Get some pics up!
|
Top work Mick.getting right in about it good man.
|
Good effort, dont forget the standard bolts to connect the arb to the Skunk LCA are the wrong thread, iirc the correct bolts are M10x1.25.

Why are the holes tapped M10 fine? Is it for another fitment? Do I find bolts, however not standard, drill 10.5 and nut and bolt it? Probably the latter.
Todays work:
|
I think the M10 fine bolts may be a bit of a Japanese thing, it's commonly found on Jap bikes, I'd planned to measure the bolt length's needed and source some M10x1.25, you'd very likely get away with running an M10x1.5 tap through them, the only drawback with opening them to 10.5 and using a nut and bolt is the possibility of the holes wearing.
|
Yes good point as it is under tension and may well 'ovalise' over time. No rush, I'll check the fixing supplier when back at work and see if they do any.
|
I recently bought a new jack to replace the one I've had for 26 years, it was the same make and 4p cheaper!
|
M10x1.25-50lg bolts sourced and bought, so no mods required. Will have a couple spare.

Last night cleaned the front calipers and carriers and started to paint them. Got a few more coats to do until they look decent enough.
Rear ARB polybushes ordered. |
ARB bolts arrived today-however they were screws not bolts. Supplier sending the correct ones tomorrow.
Gave the front calipers and carriers another coat of paint. Started to paint the ARB and drop links. |
|
I had to get hose mounts for my goodridge hoses, they were listed as civic items.
I can't find the page but here's their home page. You'll need to order 2 as they come in singles. http://goodridge.brakes-hoses-fittings.co.uk/ |
|
Thanks James. I have decided to modify the ones from off the OE hose assembly and mount to the front leg position. Requires some cutting and filing but will do the job.

Trying to fit the ARB bushes to the drop link lower mount, a right biatch! Running out of patience! May need to shave a bit off the leading edge as they keep bursting over the edge of the hole. Tricky little buggers!
|
got plenty of washing up liquid in the hole and on the rubbers!!!
:hmmm::hmmm::hmmm: |
We are getting there.
This weekend got the following done:

Been busy, looking smooth
|
Aahhh.. So you bought them Mick. Must admit I dribbled a bit when I first saw that mate, love the wheels and especially on a lowered zs. The arches look great too, subtly noticeable and it really suits the car.
Well done mate, coming along very nicely and looking superb :D |
looking good, worth all the effort.
:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: |
Kathy was having a guess this afternoon as to how much I have spent on it this year. I didn't argue as she was probably slightly under
It has been a gradual spend so has been easier to manage. I am not bothered as I have had it since it was around 18 months old and have not spent a great deal on it over those years. Most parts have been consumable items. The wheels were something I sneaked in over a few months and needed tyres regardless as the old 18s were well worn. Better the devil you know I say and I still enjoy driving it. |
