Mk 2 hatch bootlid wont close

The bootlid on my mark 2 hatch back wont close tight it just keeps coming back up any ideas on what it could be. Tried brute force and ignorance to no avail any ideas on what the problem is

is the catch sticking open?

As above, use a screwdriver to make sure the catch is open.

On closer inspection thats what it seems to be. Does it have to be replaced or is it just a cas of adjusting it with a screwdriver?

Have a go with a screwdriver, you're not gonna make it any worse. If that fails then replace.

Just went at it with a screwdriver and some WD-40 worked a treat good as new thanks for the advice
