Handbrake stuck on!
As title, how do I go about rectifying this? Can't drive it like this, every time I take my foot off the accelerator it's rapidly pulling me to a stop.
Not to mention that I don't want to damage the new discs and pads on the rear. Please help me before I pull what remaining hair I have left out! Thanks guys :) |
In which way do you mean it is stuck mate? The handbrake mechanism has jammed or rear calipers are binding? :)
|
Dont think it's the calipers stuck as the rear brakes have been done very recently and sliders re-greased etc. Also after putting the handbrake on quite firmly to check it was a lot worse straight after I did that. Definitely feels handbrake related.
Oh no........there goes another chunk of hair ;) |
Slacken the handbrake adjustment right off... then re-adjust it :)
|
My mates was a cable, they fray and the wires stick in the linear. Not cheap (£25 a side) but not to bad a job to do. I think the exhaust heat sheild had to come of.

Put the handbrake off and then give the mechanism a tap or two with a hammer to see if it frees up that way you will know if its the handbrake or caliper related.

Very few tools needed.
Centre console is held in with screws. There is a C clip on the caliper and an R clip on the pin that goes through the arm. I think I had to take the heat shield of aswell. |
