Cam belts... could they have been changed?
My car (ZS180) I bought from a trader, he wasnt sure if the Cam belts had been changed, there is service history up to about 2007 and no receipts
A friend of mine looked at the belts yesterday and said they dont look 7 years old (age of the car) Is there a way of telling if the belts are the old original ones just by sight alone? They do look good and quite a nice black rather than a worn grey colour Can get some pics up if needed? |
They could have, but then again they might not have.
The risk is they snap and your engine is ruined, and for info I have seen a drew snapped belts on 51 plate cars. Your only safe bet is to pay for change. |
Does the logbook still have the previous owners details? You could contact them & ask, that's what I did with mine.

It did have it on there, been posted to DVLA now... soon as it comes back I will contact them and see what they say
|
I'd change it for the sake of a small outlay to avoid the risk of a large one. Do the waterpump to!
|
Cheers, will look into it in the new year
Phate, what colour ZS do you drive? |
