Knocking when turning right

When turning right you can hear a knocking coming from the left hand wheel and there is alot of vibration coming up on the left handside off the car at high speed 100 KPH+. Had a look tonight and the CV boot is split (will be replaced this week) could the CV joint be on its last legs or would it be a wheel bearing or shock etc.?

If the boot is split it's very likely the joint is knackered as well

Cheers I'll ring the local mechanic tomorrow morning and see about a price as I don't have the time nor the equipment to do it myself.
