Mgb-k

Sooo, to bore you all with the wee project that's taken up a lot of my time over the last few years here's a quick round up.

Had an MGB laying about gathering dust, destined for a restoration project...but...after having so much fun with the track BRM we decided to take a different approach. The V8 was ditched in favour of a k-series, the Sebring kit was eventually ditched because it didn't fit, we found an old hard top down the back of someone's garden....

Que the music....

That looks sweet!
Plenty of hard work gone into it I'm sure!

How do the ITB's sound?

Thanks :)

The ITB's sound awesome, in fact the whole thing sounds mean! It was only this Sunday gone that I managed to get her idling on her own by tinkering with the emerald, she needed a lot more fuel! Some flames have been popped when revved :D

I like it, it's got some attitude.

Is that a Lenham hard top or some other make.

Cheers, changing the look of the normal MGB was a priority as it's a bit bland in standard trim (yes, I said it :alcoholic: ).

I think the hard top is an Ashley, but we're not entirely sure. It was buried in a chaps garden covered in weeds and had been for around 15 years, so it's come up really well.

The ex-touring car spoiler mixes things up a bit too.

Ritchy 08-04-14 06:49 PM

Awesome:) enjoyed reading the whole build on the other forum...Sooo much attention to detail with everything!

petet16 08-04-14 06:50 PM

Ah yeah, Ashley used to do a similar top for Midgets.

I'm glad you said the mgb was bland, you'll be hunted down for that, lol

adam 08-04-14 06:50 PM

Thanks Ritchy. I'll try and get a vid of the engine running when I'm next at the unit, although saying that it's booked for the rolling road on the 16th so fingers crossed it'll put out a few horsies and I can get a vid then.

Hang, drawn and quartered I'd imagine :smart:

Yeah, after looking at Ashley's it's most similar to them but still not 100% sure what it is.

Awesome, not keen on the plastic covers over the headlamps but otherwise fantastic!

They're a ****** to take on and off too, suppose they help with the aerodynamics though. Although you can now get wings that have 'swoopy' headlights built in, sods law.

Maxfly 08-04-14 07:57 PM

Love it, also love how far it's came since I last looked at its build thread. Excellent graft bud!

adam 08-04-14 08:05 PM

Ta :D I'm looking forward to see whether all the effort was worth it when we eventually get to drive it!

peterzs 08-04-14 09:14 PM

Great to see it nearly there, followed the build on the "other side".

When and where, do you plan on the first outing??

stamford 08-04-14 09:51 PM

Nice work, remember seeing some k-series MGs at Stoneleigh the other year. I also remember the Cosworth one as well, looked awesome. Love the attention to detail in the build. Wish I kept a photo build of my V8 Chevette.

andys1981 08-04-14 10:40 PM

wow some effort went into that, well done love the colour, looks amazing

First outing will be at Brands no doubt, not sure when though. We're booking a track day for the 24th but that may be in the BRM as we've yet to fit the fuel gauge to the B.

talkingcars 14-05-14 08:19 PM

Not bad ;)

petet16 14-05-14 08:45 PM

Good result.

Skillen 14-05-14 09:03 PM

More than I thought!
Torque looks good too and over a good spread too!

peterzs 14-05-14 09:05 PM

Good results, well done to you and your dad.

:clap::clap::clap:

adam 15-05-14 06:53 AM

We're completely chuffed, apparently it sounds phenomenal too. Should be interesting to see how she drives.

stamford 15-05-14 07:09 AM

Well now we've seen shots of the engine then my figure would have been a lot higher then first quoted! Good result! Power to weight figures must be impressive?

adam 15-05-14 08:22 AM

Honestly no idea what it weighs, I think as standard it's around 920kg but then we've lost the rubber bumpers which weigh a tonne, put in the roll cage, the engine is lighter, added the hard-top although that's all fibreglass, removed the boot lid, polycarb windows and no window mechs....

I would guess under a tonne. Will get it weighed when we're up at Brands with it.

grimmy 15-05-14 09:23 AM

Looks like a right wee monster that.must be great fun to Chuck about.

adam 31-05-14 09:04 PM
