What to look out for on a 180?

Righto, as you may have seen in the other thread i am off to look at a 180 tomorrow, apart from a rattling plenum what are the other problems i should be looking and listening for??:)

anything thats went wrong with mine basically :D

The usual VIS actuator/Plenum issues,
leaking brake Master or slave cylinder,
engine mount,
Check the A/C is working

anyone else care to add?

leaking shocks - but i think someone told me this was just on the earlier models.

PS - If you register here it'll tell you some other stuff.... http://www.usedcarexpert.co.uk/cars.aspx?numModel=303

Loose exterior door handles, check them all.
If orig type of exhaust, check for rust at back joint.
Good look at tyre depth, remember these things sit low and so tyres hidden.
Leaking washer jet elbows (easy fix).
Ensure oil is nice and clean, if not may indicate poor maint of car.

depends how old it is, if its close to 90,000miles, cambelts need to be changed and is a big job so price should reflect that, check power stearing isnt leakin

sduk 03-12-07 04:51 PM

its a mk2 with 30000 miles, take it you would see the fluid leaking from the container?
