MikeMant 27-01-09 06:06 PM

Thanks for the offer mate

vinny1979 27-01-09 06:28 PM

for 2k you could pick up a nice 180 mk1 easily. The tax hike isnt happening, and on a run of 45 miles you can expect very good fuel economy. I came back from falkirk in my mk2 180 last week and did 370 miles to £40 on a run, and i wasnt exactly hanging about. This week with 60% town and 40% hooning it to the mrs house 8 miles away I got 260 miles to £39. And that isnt hanging around, the 180 is such good value, obviously dependant on your age etc for insurance costs. But you wont be disappointed and I think the 180 is much better value for money over the 120 etc. IMHO

And as a guide my 2005 180 has just done 29k and I paid £3000 dead, and ive seen them for less. Good luck buddy!

mattie007 27-01-09 06:38 PM

Mine might be for sale around that date.
Its Le Mans Green, around 55k miles, + spec, mk2 17" wheels, 180 bodykit, very good condition, 02/02 model, recent 6yr/cambelt service at the cost of £350, fogs, aircon, half leather, upgraded speakers(boston acoustics and infinity), sony head unit, piper 3" backbox, waxed and polished with autoglym every month.

I'll post some more pics later.
I paid £3900 for it 2 years ago and would like to think its worth around £2200 with the mk2 alloys (these go for silly money).
Im in Kettering, Northants.
Its having the head gasket change at considerable cost by Rally Matt (a well known person on the MG forums) so in a few weeks will be running like a dream!

p_b82 28-01-09 09:58 AM

As matt is doing it then you can be sure that it will be done right tho, so dont let that put you off

afcbadam 28-01-09 07:19 PM

i have to say i like the green zs. my first 180 was the same colour and it always came up great after a clean

Cool I must say ive never been a fan of green cars but when i saw that i changed my mind That looks really cool

The thing is though i couldnt really add a personal touch to it as its already modified?? Even though it look great i couldnt take credit for the mods

What ya reckon to buy a modded car?? or start from scratch with a standard car??

:trampoline:

afcbadam 28-01-09 07:46 PM

it would save you alot of money as you will end ud doing similar mods. there are alot of personal things you can add. personally i havent brought a modded car b4 but i would do if it were the right one, however i wouldnt ever buy a car with a modded engine as it has usually been done for one reason - to be driven hard

RudeDogg1 28-01-09 07:48 PM

looks pretty much standard hes only done subtle mods

TjP 28-01-09 07:58 PM

I'd agree. The mods on mattie's car arent outrageous statements of the driver's personality (as would maybe be the case with an in-your-face bodykit or something) so theres nothing wrong with buying it like that IMO.

The car looks very good, especially with those wheels :)

afcbadam 28-01-09 08:00 PM

i have to agree with tjp. i do like them wheels

MikeMant 28-01-09 08:09 PM

Valid point about the mods to the green one It does look great

Im a bit wary as last time i brought a modded car (Escort GTi) I had no end of trouble with it

afcbadam 28-01-09 08:22 PM

i brought a 2 year old mg zt and had nothing but trouble with it. it happens mate. but as this is a forum members car there is a trusted history with it.

MikeMant 28-01-09 08:30 PM

True mate Part the reason i put an ad up There may be no warranty etc but i would be buying from someone that loved the car If that makes sense

stamford 29-01-09 07:21 AM

If I were looking for a car I would make a car club/forum my first port of call over and above any dealer. Like you so rightly said buying through a forum car more or less guarantee a much loved car and one known to many be it for the right reasons or perhaps one with a chequered history.

Cool Well i will seriously consider the green one if he does decide to sell it Still would like to see some interior shots :innocent:

If that one doesnt go ahead for any reason i would like a Silver hatch back

wilko66 29-01-09 07:36 PM
