Kv6 aux belt melted

It appears my ac compressor has burnt out and snapped the aux belt. Am about 12 miles away from home will it make it with nothing to charge the battery?

If the battery is in good condition and turn off all electrical items you should be okay but watch the temp gauge as if stuck in traffic the fans will kick in and may drain the battery. Worse case is it'll run out of juice and die. Can't remember if the steering pump runs off this or the timing belt?

As Mick said, if the battery is ok it'll run for 12 miles without any charge from the alternator, you won't have any pas, but once your moving the steering lightens up a bit.

Cheers for the help guys. Is the compressor the same as on the free lander and zt kv6? A garage I use will fit it for me if I can find a new one

The original part number was JPB 000040A, this unit was used on the v6 zs and zt, the same part number was used on v6 Freelanders but without the A on the end, the part number has also been superceded by JPB 500130, new ones are available on ebay but are £££, I'll link in a sec.
