Service

The Zs is due for its 45k service, how much am I looking at paying and where is the best place to go in my area ?
Any issues with going to a normal garage, or are there any dealers available anymore.

Im in Haydock merseyside so anywhere loal would be great..

A 45K service is only a air filter renewal, You can do that your self if you order a new filter panal.
Depending on when you last had your oil changed if may be wise to do that too, but yet again can be easly done even if your a noob to it, there is a good "how to" on XPF (not sure if its been copyed on to here though)?

Was looking to get it done by a garage to keep my warranty and service book up to date, but then it shouldnt cost too much if its only a minor service.

It should be done in 30 mins or so, shouldn't take long at all. I would imagen, if you were to buy your own oil and filter (so that you know its all genuine MGR stuff) then you should only have to pay for laybor, depending on which garage you go to should be no more than 1 hours laybor, so could be between £30 - £60 but thats all depending on how much they charge per hour.

I was just over £60 for my 3 year serivce after I bought my own bits

I changed the oil, oil filter, pollen filter and air filter. Takes about 30 mins to do the lot. Pollen filter takes the longest as the glove box and part of the metal work behind it has to come off

I always change my own oil / oil filters / spark plugs / air filters / fuel filters etc. That way i can guarantee im putting good oil in and that i know it has actually been done!!! Managed to get all my new / genuine parts from ebay for fairly good prices. (its probably a bit fussy but i change my oil and filter every 3000 ish miles) Even haynes recommemd changing it every 6000 compared to rovers 12000...

Maxxed_Ross 20-02-08 04:18 PM

I admit I do mine every 5k

Venom 20-02-08 04:31 PM

I also change my oil and oil filter every 7K (Haynes recommemd 7500K or 6 months)

The pollen, fule filters and plugs are 60K service but each to there own. The main things are the oil and air filter for the 45K. Thats all you need really.

Mines just turned over 50,000 so i've had my oil and filter done today - every 5000 miles like Maxxed Ross. Good mechanic too, he's greased the battery terminals, bonnet catches and throttle mechnism ! And all for £40 !! :D

yeah it pays to go to a decent mechanic. Luckily my dad is pally with a really good one locally
