Mg zs v6

Hi all it's been very long time since I was on the site. Just thought I'd come have look around and see if I could upload a fuw picture of the car as there has been a lot changes since I was last here. Could someone point me in the right direction of being able to upload some pictures as I am very bad with computers. Many thanks

Sorted on my album now

Looking very tidy. I guess with being charged is why it’s in hibernation, stops the temptation of hooning it!

Bakermgzs 10-07-20 10:27 PM

I do suppose that is a little part yes lol. Iv just put to much money love time sweet and tears for someone to come and spank me up the bum or some jealous ****** decides to scratch it. And I live in block flats to many fools around here.

stamford 11-07-20 11:11 PM

I don’t blame you on that front.

peterzs 12-07-20 02:04 PM

shame you have to think like that, so many idiots about now.

A bit like the TF I always park away from everything in car parks, but every time I wash or polish it, I come across new dinks.

Trouble is there is no rubbing strip like we have on the ZS's, they seem to protect the bodywork.

Good you have kept with the car.

:):):)

Still got the TF then Pete. There are times I miss our F but not getting in and especially vacating it!

peterzs 14-07-20 03:15 PM

Yep still going strong, love the free-revving 160 VVC motor.

So different from the derv and its 4,600 red line.

Both go about the same, but the handling of the ZS is so much better and I have never managed to scare myself in the ZS. The TF on the other hand, giving it some wellie on the M3 heading back to Bournemouth just after the A34 junction, a few gentle curves and I started to get a bit concerned. Kept my foot down and was glad when the road straightened out. It did feel like it was getting a bit light on the front end.

You're not trying hard enough Pete. One of the rear track rods on my F (on TF subframes) was slightly loose meaning the rear geometry could change mid way through a bend, that was, um, interesting.

Change of pants time, I expect. :)

When I first had the TF I was sitting at some traffic lights, the road was a dual carriageway leading into a roundabout. An audi came up on the offside and you get a feeling when they want to play. Anyway the lights changed and the TF surprised the audi and I made it to the roundabout first. Most of the traffic goes straight on and that was the lane I was in. Hit the brakes and the car jinked a bit but got round OK. The audi then sat up my bum for about a mile till I turned off. he was not a happy bunny.

Turned out my brake servo was not working and that was giving me the bad braking. The ZS is spot on and I put on new disks and pads all round on the TF, as I knew they were not right.

In the end a MOT failed the servo so I got it changed. I kept on testing the servo by pumping the brakes with the engine off and holding the pedal down. Then started the car and the pedal moved down, I always thought this confirmed the servo was working. When fitting the new servo, I got the garage to fit a bulkhead/servo strengthening bracket as well. Now stops as it should.

They are fun cars and go well, but for a long journey cannot match the ZS, :):):)

I brought a new project at weekend a zs with t16 engine I drove 200 miles for it I got it a mile from home and the engine blow up. So happy days. Iv managed to get engine out and rebuild almost all of it. Who ever done the job really rushed it and wiring loom is all over the place. I just have one big dilemma and that is how to get the supercharged zs and t16 zs to pol. Lol
I'll put fuw pics on my album
What you guy think

peterzs 17-07-20 08:38 PM

How did it go, before blowing up??

Wonder if they will still have POL now it has all been knocked down??

Car looks OK, shame the engine blew up.

Bakermgzs 17-07-20 10:31 PM

To be honest I swapped it for my run about zs rio red to, but unfortunately no it run like absolutely bag of poo the dude who had it know nufink about mg it wouldn't start when it got there would only start thro bumping it. Absolutely crap when needed fuel half way home. Was blowing lods of oil out of the breather pipe when under boost. To put it straight it was ragged so hard by someone. But I built the supercharged zs and am a mechanic. So rebuilt engine and sprayed block blue engine is pretty much built up now with all accessories. So not long she be running. As for pol it been on every year so far part from this year do to circumstances

peterzs 18-07-20 01:34 PM

good job you know your way around the motor.

Was wondering what the parts supply was like for a T16 engine and found this. Amazing you can get so much. https://www.gb-ent.com/collections/rover-t16

Just have to have deep pockets.:bow:

Have to keep us updated and power output when it is all run in.

Good luck with it.

:):):)

Bakermgzs 18-07-20 11:34 PM

To be fair is quite amazing how many parts you can still get for that engine considering there nearly 35 year old. Iv only built it all with standard parts due to the fact I want to see that it all works properly in the zs as like I said the loom is a absolute mess. But I have another t16 engine stored away which broke many years ago so I'm going to rebuild that with expensive parts lol.
Mate you want try getting parts for the supercharged zs you got better chances of seeing pigs fly

Bakermgzs 05-11-20 06:53 PM

Hi all right I'm finally there zs t16 is pretty much rebuilt on engine side of things, I've still kept everything pretty much standard at moment. After rebuilding it and starting it it just kept dieing. After alot pissing about turned out to be maf sensor in the ecu I opened it up and somone who had it before had tried soldering lods wires all over the circuit. After sourcing another ecu with same code, I know the chances started first time after getting mot done and fuw miles run brilliantly now soo happy. Iv got Gfb boost controller and pressure regulator and over bits but not properd to fit anything without afr gauge. All in good time

peterzs 05-11-20 09:31 PM

good you still have the love.

Be good to see it again.

Just got my one through the Mot so I am Happy as well.

Just a shame we cannot go anywhere at the moment.
