First Hit In The ZS

was on my way to work on friday so was going main roads as i thought they would be griited and my windows steemed up so i pulled into a housing estate to demist them being safe when i left i encounted a large ice patch leading to the main road i started sliding and manged to stop shame about the lady behind i put my hazards on to warn her but she cracked on when she relised she was sliding she pulled the handbrake up and hit me in the rear left of the bumper :(

didnt look like much damage for some one going 5-10MPH so i took her insurance details took the car back home and the rear bumper was pushed a fair bit forword and the rear light has been bushed in the rear quarter panel been quoted 700 so far as long as there is no damage behind the rear bumper so fingers crossed they dont right me off

Damn, I hear so so many stories this time of year about these things :(

Unfortunately unless you get it done privately, most insurance companies are more than happy to write them off, as sad as it is!

Hatch or Saloon? Get underneath and have a good look at the chassis leg, make sure there are no creases and/or damage to the rear bulkhead..

well its a hatch but we looked under and as its the mk2 the face lift moeld doesnt come with a rear slam panel just to to crumpel points in the corner and the left one is flat now

Should be ok then as I think they are replaceable!

Easy done in this weather, people just don't realise the conditions or even drive in such a manner to anticipate them.

kve always been careful on the ice, first icy day i had the zed i got to work, and the full end car park at work was empty, covered in ice, early morning, no one round, decided okay lets go pull on the handbrake, wasnt even going fast n slid right across the carpark sideways n nearly slammed into the building in slow motion, always been careful since then lol

A few years ago, actually quite a few, I digress! I was driving to work in a similar conditions when I managed around 12 miles with no hassle and with 200 yards left to go, I turned into the road before the carpark, doing around 10mph or less, black ice and thumped the kerb! Alloy wheel sheared clean off at the hub! I was not happy, my nice, at that time, 15x7 Revolutions were broken! Those were the days, nice Rover Vitesse!

i had a weird one one saturday going to work, no ice at all till i turned into my work's side street, and the road was ice n slid right across the road nearly thumped the kerb, did the pump the pedal on n off thing lol, i really want to do a skid pan, my dad did one at knockhill
