The SRS light was an issue even though I have no airbags and only one seatbelt left...........so he had to give it a fail on that basis, new tester as well. So over the weekend the soldering iron will be out and doing its thing. It'll be sorted for next Weds when I should be able to get it back to the garage. First time it's had a refusal since new which ain't bad for a 13 year old motor.

Just take the bulb out mick, its only an advisory then :)

stamford 03-04-15 06:47 AM

I thought an SRS light that didn't light up with the ignition is a fail? If anyone can prove otherwise I'll hook it out! Time to look out the standards.

If you remove the SRS ECU and the bulb and remove the airbag from the dash and passenger seat (or tape over the markings on them) so you have disabled the system completely I would have thought it should pass.

As it stands there are no seats with airbags, no passenger airbag, no drivers airbag, no drivers seatbelt, just the passenger seatbelt assembly left in place, which will be removed at some point. So it does beg the question if the system were removed would it be immune from the MOT test?

Currently I have fitted resistors to fool the system.

talkingcars 03-04-15 02:09 PM

In that case I would defiantly disconnect the ECU and remove the bulb.

That looks superb Pete.

On another note I have fixed the SRS light issue, it was a poor connection on the drivers airbag, cut off the socket, soldered resistor and all's good. MOT Weds hopefully.

petet16 06-04-15 02:17 PM

Cheers Mick

petet16 10-04-15 12:30 PM

MoT booked for Tuesday at 11:15

stamford 10-04-15 12:40 PM

Mine is now in for a retest tomorrow morning, there's a first!

petet16 10-04-15 02:34 PM

Good luck, all should be well

Dan1971 10-04-15 02:58 PM

Fingers crossed Mick.

Pete - your T16 looks bang tidy.... That rear diffuser is very special mate.

petet16 10-04-15 03:18 PM

Thank you

caled 10-04-15 05:19 PM

Mine failed this afternoon :-(

The CV boot is split in half and a cracked spring. Sigh. Getting old.

Skillen 10-04-15 05:35 PM

Which spring called and whereabouts?
My front two were snapped about two to three inches around the bottom coil both sides im a similar area.

caled 10-04-15 07:30 PM

Front off side, about the point you mentioned. Inherent weakness exacerbated by all the bloody potholes, no doubt.

It could be a lot worse though :)

stamford 11-04-15 09:48 AM

Got a pass. Now to tax it. Clean it ready for PoL. Nothing like last minute!

petet16 14-04-15 02:54 PM

It scored a fail, nothing serious, an incorrectly assembled front arb link, my fault for using the wrong size washers when I fitted poly bushes, and a leaking exhaust, which he didn't have problem with but it was screwing with the emissions, so I've spent an hour or so in the sunshine fixing it so I can drop by tomorrow and he'll recheck the emissions and arb link.
On the plus side it was only 30 quid, and I got to have a Bacon and egg roll in my favourite greasy spoon.

stamford 14-04-15 07:44 PM

Isn't it annoying when it fails on something you've done and should have seen it. Like you said nothing bad. Funny mine had advisories for seat belts because they couldn't test the passengers as there was no seat to plug it into!

petet16 14-04-15 07:53 PM

It is, the arb link was so obviously wrong when I looked at it, must have been having a blonde moment. lol

I think the exhaust joint may have been disturbed when I fitted the dual outlet system.

petet16 15-04-15 02:45 PM

Passed, whoop, but struggled to make the emissions numbers.

stamford 15-04-15 03:30 PM

Good it passed but as for the emissions, not so good.

petet16 15-04-15 05:16 PM

Looking at the emissions sheet, it appears to be the lambda that is right at the top of the range, I'm wondering if the sensor is the problem, it's probably the original, I've never replaced it in the 14 years that I've had the engine.

Lukeus101 05-05-15 05:34 PM

So Archie passed today...shame the radiator shat itself during the brake test....

petet16 05-05-15 06:14 PM

The pass is good, the rad not so, either 2nd hand or a custom ally one.

peterzs 05-05-15 06:42 PM

well done Luke.

Can sort the rad.

M17TT180 17-08-15 12:58 PM

MOT Fail for me, although not too bad.

Handbrake below efficiency
Numberplate bulb
Rear offside fog
CV Boot front offside needs replacing.

Lukeus101 17-08-15 01:46 PM

Thats a nice easy list for you Matt :)

petet16 17-08-15 02:57 PM

Are you breaking Matt ? :D

peterzs 17-08-15 03:10 PM

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

stamford 18-08-15 07:00 AM

Dan1971 18-08-15 07:56 AM

Oh yes he will

jaorton 25-08-15 06:03 PM

Mine passed today with only slightly worn rear pads and a thin disc as advisories

BRMFUN 25-08-15 07:10 PM

Well done!

daytona365 08-10-15 06:12 AM

My turn today, up nice and early, to take the Zed down for his MOT..............should fly through, just wish it wasnt so early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

peterzs 08-10-15 07:03 AM

Yep, my one sailed through, I expect the new O/S/R caliper and rear pads, few months back helped!!!
