MG ZS 180 Decat

As per other post, my flexi section is knackered.

So am looking for a decat to replace it. Second hand considered as sourcing a new one seems limited?

For a mk2 180 :)

Cheapest I've found is £132 at PTP.

This a good deal?

I bet you could get one made for less from a local custom exhaust specialist using the original flanges. its only a flexi joint and a bit of stainless, and maybe welding a lambda boss in there.

Think Goldie is also looking in to this. Don't want to be paying over the odds!

A few years ago I had a laguna, and me and my mate made the exhaust, basically I put a universal back box on, the using stainless pipe and dans welding skills we took the centre box out. All was good, sounded great, then on a trip to work the cat packed in, so we removed and using original flanges we made a decat pipe, I'm considering doing this to my zed 180. Just the decat as it has a cat back.

Smokey 06-08-12 12:28 PM

I have a cat back, so is only the decat I need

col180 06-08-12 01:04 PM

I have a brand new Janspeed decat pipe including gaskets that i never got round to fitting. Let me know if you are interested.

Smokey 06-08-12 01:12 PM

So this one then?

Very interested.

Price delivered?

coreygraham180 06-08-12 01:41 PM

or if you have a spare cat lying around one of my mate just hammered the cat innereds out and sounded pretty sweet so you could make one

Smokey 06-08-12 01:43 PM

The only bit I don't have lying about lol!

I am pricing a run of 180 decats in full stainless, inc flexi and new flanges.

Looking at £100 to be done properly if anyone fancies one?

Smokey 06-08-12 11:13 PM

Does yours come with any guarantee (like Janspeeds does)?

ZRed 06-08-12 11:32 PM

yeah i guarantee it to be better! :)

Janspeed ones use mild steel flexi`s. I`ll be using stainless.

Lukeus101 06-08-12 11:49 PM

Let me know as soon as they are done ;)

KirkJames 07-08-12 12:01 AM

They aint as cheap as people keep saying, I suppose it depends which places near to you do custom exhausts. I went to a Powerflow dealer near me and they charged me 150 but they did do me a new flexi section that they welded on to my old cat with all the necessary's for just swapping it over for MOT.

I know their work so I was happy to pay that price, garaunteed too!

Lukeus101 07-08-12 01:14 AM

Id maybe be up for coming to you as well :) Would like to meet the man behind the username

Smokey 09-08-12 12:43 PM

Col's decat arrived today. Top guy and a pleasure to trade with! Now lets hope those bolts play nice!!

Rep given!

big_wasa 09-08-12 12:54 PM

No they will shear of if it's not been of before.....:jump:

Smokey 09-08-12 12:56 PM

Am only attempting it due to needing the car tomorrow! But the current decat isn't standard and the powerflow centre/rear sections are a year old, so fingers crossed!

Smokey 09-08-12 03:40 PM

Typical, 3 out of 5 bolts fecked!

Lukeus101 09-08-12 03:51 PM

Always the case mate :( I wanted to change an exhaust after 1000miles as it was too quiet lol. Both bolts on the backbox were siezed and knackered.

Smokey 09-08-12 04:28 PM

Pisses me off when a silmple job I can do myself ends up costing a fortune because of shitty bolts

Lukeus101 09-08-12 04:38 PM

Thats why when goldie comes up with the decats im going to him :)

Smokey 09-08-12 05:36 PM

I'm going to him to fit this one anyways lol. About the only garage I trust so would rather travel the 70 mile round trip to get the service I expect. Has always come up trumps for me.

big_wasa 09-08-12 07:12 PM

You could have bought a 4 1/2" angle grinder for a few quid and done the job your self :chair:

Smokey 09-08-12 08:24 PM

I'd probably it my hand off lol!
