Guess I'm a 'proper' member now

As some of you know I'm looking at building a T16 ZS.

After having a ZR and recently selling my Impreza I bought my base car today, a very early TB MK1 ZS180. Taxed and tested, just needs a little tidy up. It's getting delivered next weds so I'll get pics and stuff up then.

I'm gonna run the v6 until xmas, it has FSH and had the belts done but is on 108,000 miles. Surely the V6 K lump lasts a lot longer than 4cylinder K or am I going to expect a lot of problems?

This is going to be a project car more than anything as I'm still very much into my JDM cars and a S14 is on the cards soon also.

whhaaaahaaaaaay, kv6 is pretty reliable but maintainance is very expensive

Maxxed_Ross 19-11-10 05:39 PM

only if the belts need done

only thing that is really prone to go wrong are the VIS valves, but there's more than enough threads on here on how to avoid or fix the problem

Great you have the base for your project now.
I look forward to following it.
The V6 you remove might be good for Smokey.

i would say the V6 is the most reliable engine that MGR did, my dads is on 140 odd thousand miles and still runs mint, there is also a member on XPF that has done over 250k in his and still going well!

Is this the Y reg needing a bit more than a polish to sort the bonnet?

Oh hai thar mr negative, bonnet can be bought for 50 quid in the same colour. Yes I'd call that a bit of a tidy up. That's dirt cheap! So happens there is a TB ZS in my local scrappers as well ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone else, should be a fun project :) And yup the belts have been done, I'll give it a service when I get it too.

What grade oil are people using? I would look it up myself but my internet sucks.
