"Clunk"

Getting an audible and tangible "clunk" - feels/sounds like metal on metal from under the bonnet somewhere. Tends to be when I'm negotiating a right turn and over uneven surfaces.

Gonna get it looked at today.

Any ideas ....

Check engine and gearbox mounts for movement. Also check suspension top mounts whilst under the bonnet and maybe worth looking at the front shock spring platforms as they may be dry and require a squirt of heavy oil on the seat.

Wheel nits all tight, and that big nut on the hub????

Subframe bolts all tight and its not fouling the body, near the gearbox??

Caliper and disk pads all OK??

Engine stabilizer bushes??

I've similarly annoying clunks that abated in the summer then returned with the colder weather. Thermal coefficient of expansion and all that. For me it was lower control arm bushes were a little loose. But I have also had worn engine stabiliser bushes which have caused a very similar noise and tangible clunk under spirited acceleration and heavy braking.

Well.... Garage tell me that the only thing they can find is that the lower gearbox mount is showing a bit too much flex, but that they don't think it's worth changing..... Too sensitive I guess....

I had this similar noise which was coming from my upper engine stabiliser bar. Bush was completely loose and bar could move left and right freely with very little pressure.
Changed it over and noise went. May be worth a look at that too?

Mounts do wear, but not on a low mileage car. Spring seats do make a noise when the spring sticks on said seat if dry. More so on full lock.

Is that not more of a bong than a clunk?
