Wow.

Well that hasn’t made me regret selling my mk1 to Phil.
Nope, not one bit.

Interesting but will need a lot doing to make it truly usable.

I disagree - to keep it as original as possible would be the thing to do with it and just leave it alone.

We've talked before on here about whether the cars could become classics and rise in value. The only way that would ever happen would be to leave alone and this is as good an original, low mileage car as I've ever seen come up and if there are any cars out there to at least retain some value - that's it - but only in my opinion if it was left alone.

Nice x-power exhaust would go well.
Had one on my mk1 hatch (again sold to Phil) it was such a good fit and a nice sound.
That way it would have an original spec exhaust too.

My mk2 is far to gone to be worth much 😂😂

I wasn't talking about modifying it. I was talking about brake hoses, probably coolant hoses, tyres etc... not to mention cambelts, engine oil and filter, coolant, brake fluid, PAS fluid, gearbox oil etc..

Sorry then my friend - my bad.

All serviced and driveable would be reasonable .... ;)

Not much original about the one you sold me Callum! This is it's twin. Keeping half an eye on it to see what it goes for but my garage is already full of silver MK1 hatches at the minute. Does look mint in the extra pics he has put on. I wonder what it's like underneath.

There are times I think I’ve ruined my mk1 by modding it, but if I left it stock I wouldn’t be happy with it. The aim is to make it a one off that fits in with my vision no matter how long it takes. The essence of the car is still there, the chassis is the soul, it has been honed. Think it’s coming up to 14 years ownership, lost track! There’s always room for improvement.

Back to the story, good ones will appreciate in time, I have to say they are getting scarce on the road now, modified ones will be a niche market.
