lighting....

Just a random question for the masses here....

what lights or bulbs do you usually use in your ZS or other cars?

I only ask as I have always thought the headlight on dipped beam to be utterly useless on the ZS, and as some-one posted a 10% discount on power bulbs over on xpf (MGZS10 the code is iirc) i treated myself to a set of the new phillips Xtreme Vision jobbers.

I have not gone out in the dark to test them yet, but i can say they are a huge difference over the old lights when i got down to the lamp height and compared them.

However what I am not sure is that whether they would have been better than just getting some new bog standard bosche ones, as the old ones are in pretty poor shape tbh....

So would you spend the extra ?20 on a set of high spec bulbs, or just bung in cheap ones....

I was wary of the HID situation due to the possible tightening of MOT rules hence why i went for some EU legal bright ones...

them ones dont seem bad for price

p_b82 17-12-10 02:00 PM

they do seem very cheap.. but are they UK\EU legal?

my next question would be how long would a bulb that costs a fiver for 2 actually last i wonder...

Paddyniknak 17-12-10 02:03 PM

Yer well theres always that question on the life but i mean u carnt garentee the life on anybulb mate no matter the price really :( iv had halfords ones that are suppose to be great last a week and cheap ones from market thats lasted months and still going in my coupe lol as far as i no there legal there some cheaper but their in hon kong

p_b82 17-12-10 02:06 PM

well i usually only buy Bosch or branded bulbs and i have rarely had any blow... my current dipped beams; one is at least 4 years old the other is original.

main beams have not been changed... so referncin months rather than years doesn't inspire me with confidence...

rear brake bulbs however is another matter.. for a while mine ate them daily; then just stopped

scratch that just found out 100w headlight bulbs illegal

p_b82 17-12-10 02:12 PM

yeah thought they were... also not easy to lower the heat output of a 100w bulb so that it dont damage the unit itself!

Oh and you can get the Xtreme vison for dipped beam cheaper on ebay.. ah well ?35 delivered..

i think night breakers are cheaper still....

lawrence-zs180 17-12-10 02:15 PM

yea im on the night breakers and there bloody good, got them at powerbulb with the bogof and 10% off oh and free side lights...?27 thankyou very much.
